The labor market in the Pardubice region is getting more and more lively. This is how the latest unemployment figures published by the Labor Office could be interpreted. Not only did the unemployment rate drop by two-tenths of a percentage point to 2.9 percent, but the number of job seekers decreased while the supply of vacancies increased.

Unemployment in the Pardubice region fell by two tenths of a percentage point to 2.9 percent in April, according to data from the labor office. There were 10,584 job applicants, a month-on-month decrease of 654, compared to 11,238 at the end of the previous month. The number of job positions offered in the Pardubice Region increased by 309 to 13,877. Unemployment in the whole of the Czech Republic fell to 3.7 percent compared to last month.

The authorities removed 2,289 applicants from the register, 364 more than in March.
The highest unemployment among the districts was in April in Svitavy Region with 3.3 percent. Conversely, the lowest unemployment was 2.8 percent in Orlickousteck and Chrudim. There were 0.8 job seekers per job vacancy in the Pardubice Region in April. The greatest excess pressure on the labor market was in Svitavy, with one applicant for one position. Pardubice had the fewest unemployed in relation to the offer of places, namely 0.6 applicants per place.

The number of people registered with employment offices also includes unemployed people who cannot start work immediately. These are, for example, people on retraining courses, unemployed women on maternity leave, prisoners or the unemployed on disability. There were 9,820 so-called available job seekers aged 15 to 64 who could start work immediately in the Pardubice Region in April.
