A fifty-four-year-old Czech died while kayaking near the Austrian village of Weissenbach am Attersee, APA reported. According to her, an experienced fan of water sports fell out of the kayak while descending the river in a dangerous place and could not get out of the wild water. Other boaters eventually pulled him to shore, but he died after being taken to the hospital.

Austrian police said in a press release that the accident happened around 11:40 a.m. when the man was descending the Gimbach river, which they said he knew. Nevertheless, he found himself alone in the water in a difficult passage. One of his colleagues and other kayakers rushed to help and called an ambulance.
The rescue helicopter transported the boater to a forest path about 50 meters above the river, where attempts to revive him continued. Finally, paramedics transported him to the university hospital in Linz, where he died not long after.
A 36-year-old Czech died in a similar accident on April 27 this year near the Austrian village of Scheffau. According to the police, he was a member of a group of Czech kayakers. While passing through the gorge, he hit a rock and was pulled under the water. His body was found a day later.
In May 2016, three dead Czechs required a boating trip along the Landquart river in eastern Switzerland. In September 2015, a 47-year-old Czech drowned near the Lofer mountain resort in Salzburg when his kayak overturned while he was descending white water.
In April 2014, a thirty-six-year-old Czech canoeist drowned while descending the Saalach River in Austria. A man from Brno capsized with his boat at the end of the wild water section in the Teufelsschlucht gorge. In June 2013, in the south of Austria, near the village of Palfau in Upper Styria, a twenty-one-year-old Czech woman died while going down the wild water on the river Salza. She and another young woman were sailing in an inflatable kayak that overturned.
