Radim Rulík and his coaching staff reached out to a relatively large number of representatives of the domestic Tipsport extraliga in the nomination for the domestic World Cup. 11 players from the domestic competition appear in the nomination, five defenders and six forwards.

In the second article, we will use numbers to look at the strengths and weaknesses of the six forwards that Radim Rulík pointed to during the nomination. More than half of the defense is made up of representatives of the domestic competition, and in the attack it looks like exactly half of the starting line-up, when after the elimination of Pavel Kousal from the nomination, the remaining six attackers should not miss the first match line-up.

Among the extra-league representatives, the hard worker Ondřej Beránek from Karlovy Vary is not missing from the next World Cup, after the season of a lifetime, Jakub Flek from Brno Kometa won an invitation, and Jáchym Kondelík from České Budějovice is also on the same page. Last season’s comet Daniel Voženílek is not missing again, and the nominations also include one of the best players in the entire Tipsport extra league, forwards Lukáš Sedlák (Pardubice) and Ondřej Kaše (Litvínov).

Ondřej Beránek, HC Energie Karlovy Vary

Ondřej Beránek

attacker, 28 years old

” href=”https://www.hokej.cz/hrac/ondrej-beranek/14041″>Ondřej Beránek experienced the season of his life a year ago. In the season just ended, he did not build on the 2022/2023 season, but he was still decorated with his greatest strength – speed and danger in finishing.

Thanks to his skating, Báránek is a very annoying player, and he can very often get into dangerous positions. He shot from the slot more often than 94% of forwards in this year’s extra league regular season, having nearly eight shots in 60 minutes of 5-on-5 play.

Beránek also shows decent skills in transitions to the offensive zone, where he can also use his skating. The energetic play and movement is the contribution that the Karlovy Vary attacker should present again at the championship.

Jakub Flek, HC Kometa Brno

Speed is also abundant in another extra-league striker, namely

Jakub Flek

attacker, 31 years old

” href=”https://www.hokej.cz/hrac/jakub-flek/17397″>Jakub Flek from Kometa. He probably had his best extra-league season. According to Game Score, he was better than 91% of forwards and belonged at the same time to the most creative ones.

Flek collected 45 points in the regular season, scoring 19 goals. When playing 5v5, no other forward had more chances to score than him, averaging 1.2 expected goals per hour of play. At the same time, Flek also created high-quality opportunities for his teammates, and overall he was one of the most dangerous forwards.

In addition, Flek can also use his movement in the attack zone, which he shows very regularly in the extra league, where he is among the best extra league attackers in this activity. Like Beránek, Flek should bring movement and energy to the national team’s game.

Ondřej Kaše

Ondřej Kaše

attacker, 28 years old

” href=”https://www.hokej.cz/hrac/ondrej-kase/14405″>After his return from overseas, Ondřej Kaše was a decoration of the Czech extra league and it is only good that his health will allow him to complete the world championship. he could, and should, belong to the key players of the national team!

In the extra league, Kaše scored 54 points in the regular season, when he was the third most productive player. Above all, he was full of ice and had a great influence on Litvínov’s game. Kaše was one of the best forwards in the transition phase, when he simultaneously took pucks out of the defensive zone and also entered the offensive zone regularly in possession of the puck. In addition, thanks to his abilities, he only minimally resorted to just shooting the puck, when he was among the top in the ratio of controlled actions on the blue lines. He was better than 95% of forwards in the ratio of controlled entries and shots, and in the ratio of exits with the puck and throws he was the best ever!

In the offensive zone, Kaše paid for being one of the most dangerous shooters, especially in the finish. He created an average of one expected goal chance, which he converted into 1.1 goals scored per 60 minutes, beating 90% of forwards. He was also among the top fifth of forwards in the quality of his passes and recorded 0.7 primary assists as a result.

Kaše is thus able to be the leader of the team and above all of his formation with a very positive influence on the performances and results of his teammates. And he should confirm it at the World Cup.

attacker, 24 years old

” href=”https://www.hokej.cz/hrac/jachym-kondelik/28681″>It took time for Jachym Kondelík to establish himself in the Czech competition. But after that he took his performances to a very high level and played the role of a key player in the playoffs the center of the team.

In the regular season, Kondelík collected 37 points, 26 of which were assists, when the creation of play and opportunities for teammates was his greatest strength in the season. No other forward made more quality passes to teammates, while Kondelík recorded one primary assist per 60 minutes in 5v5 play, when he was better than 94% of extraleague forwards.

In addition, he was able to get into very decent shooting positions himself and scored more goals in time than three-quarters of the attackers. And as a center, he was also able to help out with the passing game when needed, especially by taking the puck out of the defensive zone, when he had to at least resort to just throwing it out.

Lukáš Sedlák, HC Dynamo Pardubice

Lukáš Sedlák

attacker, 31 years old

” href=”https://www.hokej.cz/hrac/lukas-sedlak/12978″>Lukáš Sedlák should, like Ondřej Kaše, take a key role in the national team, if he is expected to be the first center of the team. Sedlák meets all the prerequisites for this role.

Almost any activity can be included among its advantages. Whether it’s passing, entering the offensive zone, or creativity. And also a finish in which Sedlák had no competition in this season’s extra league in a 5-on-5 game. He scored in time conversion in 1.7 cases per hour of play, when he created chances for 1.1 of the expected goals.

In addition, he was one of the best players in midfield transition, and he was better than 85% of forwards in creating chances for teammates. In addition, Sedlák as a center was able to regularly win face-offs, and an inconspicuous component of Sedlák’s game, although much discussed, is also his ability to win very often power plays for his team.
