The first semi-final of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest started on Tuesday in Malmö, Sweden. The first ten finalists emerged from it. In the second semi-final evening, which took place on Thursday, the Czech representative Aiko also fought for advancement. Unfortunately, she did not advance to the final, which will take place on Saturday.

Singers or bands from Serbia, Portugal, Slovenia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Finland, Cyprus, Croatia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Greece, Switzerland, Austria, Armenia, Latvia, Georgia, Estonia, Israel, Norway and the Netherlands will compete for the victory. Then representatives of France, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, Germany and Sweden.

Aiko competed with the song Pedestal. “I wrote her after the breakup. I was very angry. We were together for 3.5 years. Diplomatically speaking, there was a miscommunication. I told myself that I won’t like it, and within an hour a song was created,” she described the creation of the song with which she won the national round.

Our last year’s representative, the Vesna group, made it to the finals, where they took tenth place. It was the second best result after Mikolas Josef’s sixth in 2018.
