Prague – This evening, representatives of the capital will present the appearance of the new concert hall building in Prague at the Center for Architecture and Urban Planning (CAMP). The Vltava Philharmonic is to be next to the Vltavská metro station, according to plans it should cost in 2032 and cost about six billion crowns.

19 designs competed in an international architectural study. After the announcement of the winner, the project will be taken over by the city’s contributory organization, the Prague Development Company (PDS), which the city founded just for the purpose of preparing construction projects on city plots. The municipality is trying to co-finance the construction of the Vltava Philharmonic, and is also considering the involvement of private investors.

Discussions about the construction of a large concert hall in Prague have been going on for decades, and the city has been considering various places where it could stand. The considerations are also related to the debates about the need for a contemporary architectural contribution to the form of the city, which is negligible compared to other European capitals in Prague.

The new building with several halls should house the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK or the music department of the Municipal Library in Prague. According to the city’s ideas, the complex will be open all day and will also offer, for example, cafés and restaurants.
