Nymburk did not give the home team a chance. The Central Bohemian team won the first quarter 31:19 and then only emphasized the advantage. He could rely on a stronger bench and also on 17 successful three-pointers, while Olomouc succeeded only five times.
The best scorer of the visitors was Ondřej Sehnal with 17 points, Luboš Kovář added 15, Martin Kříž 14 points and Sukhmail Mathon scored 11 points and 13 rebounds. Dupree McBrayer’s 21 points didn’t help the home team either.
“We finished our job, that was our main intention today. We started with accurate shots and that always helps a lot. I played solid in defense and we took advantage of the wider rotation,” said Nymburk coach Francesco Tabellini in a press release.
“The opponent prepared for our zone defense and gave us a good run in the intermission. It was very challenging for us, the fatigue was increasing, and the last result corresponds to that. The total defeat of 0:4 for the matches is very difficult,” added Olomouc’s captain Lukáš Feštr.
The match in Ostrava was balanced for a long time. However, the third quarter ended badly and they entered the fourth act with an 11-point lead. The home team started to catch up, but when Martin Gniadek hit two sixes six seconds before the end to give the visitors an 87-84 lead, it looked like it was decided.
But Michal Svoboda made it 87:87 with a three-pointer two seconds before the end and sent the game into overtime. In it, Ostrava outplayed the opponent 13:6, and only one victory separates them from their first semi-final appearance since 2013.
