Slovak fans can also look forward to Tomáš Tatar in Ostrava. The participation of the experienced attacker in the upcoming championship in the Czech Republic was confirmed by the general manager of his Seattle Kraken club, Ron Francis.

The 33-year-old forward can thus prepare his appetite after an unsuccessful season in the NHL, which he divided between Colorado and Seattle. He played 27 games for the Avalanche with a record of 1+8, but he had a blast with the Kraken, but he still can’t be satisfied with 15 points (8+7) from 43 games.

All in all, this year he recorded 70 starts and 24 points – i.e. the least for the time he has been playing regularly in the best hockey league in the world.

However, the Slovaks will bet on his immense experience – he has already appeared at six world championships, two years ago he led the team as captain and in 2012 he was a member of the silver team at the World Championships in Helsinki and Stockholm.

Tomáš Tatar is Craig Ramsay’s fifth overseas signing. Defender Šimon Nemec and forwards Juraj Slafkovský, Martin Pospíšil and Pavol Regenda have already confirmed their participation in the May event in Prague and Ostrava.

At the same time, Seattle’s general manager announced that German goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer, French forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Swedish forward Andre Burakovsky and three Canadians will also travel to the Czech Republic from his team: quarterback Jamie Oleksiak with forwards Jared McCann and Brandon Tanev.

Oleksiak and Tanev will have a big premiere, McCann and Burakovsky will go to their second WC, Grubauer will appear in the fifth and the veteran Bellemare even in the eleventh – but he will appear at a big event for the first time since the championship in 2017.
