Sparta will have to do without the services of Jan Buchtele in the next extra league season 2024/25, the club informed about the departure of the experienced striker on its website.
“I was very happy in Sparta, I made a home here. I’m sorry I couldn’t make a golden dot even once. I am terribly sorry for the team, the fans and the club. “Sparta deserve the title and I hope they get it soon,” said the 33-year-old forward.
He defended the jersey of the Prague team for eleven long seasons, during that time he played more than five hundred extra-league games for Sparta, helping them to 263 points (141+122) and ranking among the most outstanding figures in the club’s history.

“I really wanted us to at least make the final. I wanted to play for the title with this team because I think there are great guys here. When we scored a goal, it immediately dawned on me that it was definitely over. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, it’s not a good feeling. I’m still scattered and broken, but life goes on and they say that time will fix everything,” she adds.
“But I wouldn’t want to throw the whole season in the trash for one week. It was good, we set a record for the number of points, more people went, but the end is all the more bitter. Although the season was good, the long wait makes it stupid. I believe that a lot of people are pissed off, but it annoys us too,” continues Buchtele, who won two extra-league silvers and three bronzes with Sparta.
Next year, he will return to the O2 arena as an opponent, his next steps should be towards the nearby Mladá Boleslav. “When I come here, especially the first game will be strange,” is clear to Jan Buchtele, who before coming to Sparta played in the extra league for Pardubice.
