A really tough test awaits the national team on Saturday afternoon. Sweden has already arrived in Brno full of great names with NHL tags and is putting together an even bigger squad for the World Cup. Who do you need to watch out for?

Rasmus Dahlin (O, 24 years old)

Current season: Buffalo (NHL), 81 games, 20+39

A pillar of the Sabers defense. And one of the brightest players for the championship in Prague and Ostrava. A lot of people may forget that Dahlin was only 24 years old less than a month ago. The number one pick in the 2018 draft represents the prototype of a modern guard – ideal parameters, excellent skating, stick work, physical play, defensive consistency and offensive structure. But there is a question mark over his availability for Saturday’s race.

Jonas Brodin (O, 30 years old)

Current season: Minnesota (NHL), 62 games, 7+20

Mr. inconspicuous? If it’s not missing in the lineup, you often don’t notice it too much, but… It can handle almost any task. Among other things, this is evidenced by the fact that Minnesota rewarded him with a $42 million contract less than four years ago. Brodin = synonymous with reliability. Such a player will be a great fit for Sweden’s star-studded defense.

Lucas Raymond (Ú, 22 years old)

Current season: Detroit (NHL), 82 games, 31+41

In his second season in the NHL, he paid the price for inconsistency, but in the third he fully developed it. After all, he will announce himself at the WC as Detroit’s most productive fighter! Raymond stands out with his venomous wrist shot, even hitting the 30-goal mark this year. He is moving to the top of the national team season despite the fact that he has to negotiate a new contract. Last year in Tampere and Riga he collected a point per game.

André Burakovsky (Ú, 29 years old)

Current season: Seattle (NHL), 49 games, 7+9

2018 – Stanley Cup with Washington. 2022 – Stanley Cup with Colorado. Last year, however, Burakovsky resembled only a shadow of the player who reached the goal of 60 points in the past and during the playoffs in 2020 he made opponents a blast calendar. He should travel to the World Cup after eight years, as a 21-year-old rookie then he jumped three times at the tournament in Russia.

Joel Eriksson Ek (Ú, 27 years old)

Current season: Minnesota (NHL), 77 games, 30+34

Over the past couple of seasons, he’s worked his way into Minnesota’s elite middle linebacker position. He has already experienced one golden party with the Swedish national team, seven years ago he climbed to the top in Cologne. Eriksson Ek has always paid more for a responsible center, but he has gradually worked on his offensive instincts and can be very beneficial at both ends of the ice.
