The 30-year-old all-rounder Jakub Matai is returning to the Czech third-highest competition after a season in Bucharest, Romania – as a new reinforcement for the forward-thinking Tábor. The Roosters also announced the arrivals of forwards Václav Adamec and Jan Cikhart.

Matai, a native of Kadaň, can play both in defense and on the wing (where, after all, he started his career). Tábor coach Jakub Grof is counting on him primarily in the attack.

Matai played in the second league for the last time in the 2022/2023 season – then he flashed 45 points (16+29) in 48 games in Chomutov colors. He was supposed to spend this year with the Pirates as well, but he received an offer from abroad and after disagreements with the Pirates, he bought himself out of the contract during the summer training.

Finally, he headed for an unconventional hockey stint in Bucharest: he scored seventeen points (3+14) in twenty-five games in the Romanian league. After a year, Matai, whose name will forever be remembered with the successful campaign of Lev Prague to the KHL finals, is back in the Czech Republic.

In Tábor, he will also meet promising forwards

Jan Cikhart
