It is difficult to choose someone who stood out from the Czech gray. At least Ondřej Palát did not disappoint, he deserved the player of the match award. The Devils forward has defensive tasks in the team, which the repre did not perform well against the Swiss. But he doesn’t have a killer instinct, it has to be awakened in him by others.

What do you think about your last performance in Brno?
It wasn’t the best match, we got the first two goals again. The Swiss then put it in the middle zone and we failed to take advantage of any chances. It’s a shame, we were a bit toothless offensively. We have to improve it.

Did you feel that the opponent pulled back a lot after the first two goals?
Probably yes, absolutely everyone does. They score the first goal and pull away. The Swiss and the Finns played it that way. It’s all the more difficult after that, but that’s how world hockey is played. He defends, and that’s how he wins.

How can this affect the atmosphere in the team?
It’s still just preparation, but of course we have to work on it. To make the team better at the championship.

In the first period, you managed to send Sven Jung behind the bar…
I just wanted to finish him off and take the puck away from him. I gave him a hit and I didn’t even know he flew out there. (smile) But yeah, good. At least something for the audience. We’re struggling, the energy is there, but we’re just toothless. It takes some idea and cleverness to slow the game down.

Did Radko Gudas say anything to you about it?
He’s probably a little jealous. (skill)

There were a lot of you in the team. Didn’t the blanket fall on you from the nomination fight?
I don’t know, I can’t speak for the other guys. Of course there are enough of us here. The trainings were in large numbers, but they were brisk. I personally felt good.

After the first period, whistles could be heard from the stands. Did you perceive a negative reaction from the stands?
I didn’t notice it much, the fans were great all three matches. Of course it would be better if we won. They are excited for the championship, so I hope that the Czech team will give their best performance there.

What did you base your power-ups on? Were they clubbing habits?
Probably yes. Everyone plays it somehow in the club. Today we had power plays that we didn’t train, we didn’t have training. So we drew something on the board, but it’s not quite ideal, it has to be practiced.

Do you at least feel good about being weakened? You even managed to get away a few times…
It wasn’t bad, but there is still room for improvement.
