Bleeding eye, fear for Kulenovich. Luka shouldn’t have anything broken, reassured Dr. Liberce

--

At that moment, the entire stadium in Teplice froze. The 72nd minute was running, when Luka Kulenovič tried to knock Višinský’s pass into the goal at the back post. But he didn’t reach the ball. Instead, he hit the post at full speed. First sideways, then head. He was treated for several minutes. He had to leave the field on a stretcher. He held his head, but then gave the audience a thumbs up.

“I hope the player Kulenovic will be okay because it was very dangerous. I believe there will be no consequences. I would like to support him with this and hope that he will be ready again as soon as possible,” said Teplice coach Zdenko Frťala at the very beginning of his assessment of the winning match.

How is the Liberec attacker doing according to the reports immediately after the match? “Luka is fine, but he doesn’t remember how the injury happened. It has a memory lapse there. We will do a follow-up CT in the evening. He has hematomas in the area of the temporal and occipital region and a laceration in the area of the ear. We’ll see in the evening according to CT. We do not assume that there is anything broken,” said Slovan’s doctor Ladislav Dzan.

Slavia’s coach Jindřich Trpišovský and Jaroslav Tvrdík, the chairman of the board of directors of the stitched team, who have Kulenović in their sights, also watched the terrifying moment in the stands. He was replaced by Horský a quarter of an hour before the end.

“But the whole match was tough and there were several fights. I was definitely numb, but when I saw Mario Purzitidis bleeding from his eye, which was close to me, that made me more nervous. I was worried that this would turn into a more serious problem. But that’s football and it shows how tough Teplice are and how much they fight,” Liberec stopper Matěj Chaluš recalled the confusing situation from the 25th minute, when the Liberec defender Purzitidis ended up on the ground after a fight by home team Gnigno and there were also several minutes treated.

“There were more of those situations, Mario Purzitidis was left lying down after the procedure and he doesn’t have a very nice face now, but luckily it looks like it won’t be that serious for either of them. If Luka shouldn’t be there next week, it’s a big weakness for us,” noted Luboš Kozel.

Unlike Kulenović, Purzitidis finished the match. “I hope that Luka will be ready for the next match. We will also use this as motivation to advance and he can add some more goals,” concluded Chaluš. Liberec, after the opening loss 0:2, must win by two goals in a week at Nisa, otherwise their season ends.
