Italian answer. Ferrari is to test parts for Imola in Fiorano – F1sport.cz

Ferrari was the second best team in the first races of the season. In Miami, both Ferrari and Red Bull were defeated by McLaren. The answer should come now in Imola.

McLaren’s tweaks are estimated to have resulted in an improvement of 0.4 seconds per lap. This applies to Norris, as Piastri only had about half of the package and will only get the rest at Imola. In his case, the improvement should have been about 0.2 seconds per lap.

In addition, according to Motorsport.com, McLaren managed to add “clean” downforce to the car – that is, one that doesn’t increase drag, but rather the opposite. Ultimately, the car has more downforce to be faster in the corners, which opens the door to having smaller wings (so more speed on the straights).

Ferrari was the second best team in the first races. In the very first ones, even literally, because if we exclude Sainz’s crowd from Bearman, the Scuderia drivers always finished behind the Red Bull drivers or even before them (Sainz’s victory).

Has McLaren’s upgrade package changed the power distribution? Is McLaren now ahead of Ferrari and closer to Red Bull? We know that Verstappen had a damaged car, but in the first stint when the car was OK, Piastri stuck with him. Between the second and twentieth laps (which is a fairly large sample) he averaged the same times.

In Miami, however, there was a sprint, so the teams did not have to hit the ideal setting after one practice session, or they could “mess up” it during the opening of the parc fermé after the sprint. They also had problems with tires – Norris paid for it in the shootout. All that remains is to wait for the next races.

Ferrari had nothing in Imola. The Italian stable was missing from the list of new parts that the teams submit to the FIA ​​so that we know what’s new on the cars.

The package of improvements is to be deployed by Ferrari in front of the home fans in Imola in a week. After two sprint weekends, we have a classic schedule and therefore more space for testing parts.

According to formu1a.uno, Ferrari does not want to wait until the first practice in Imola, but intends to test the new parts in Fiorano during the filming days. Both drivers will be behind the wheel of the SF-24 2.0 on Thursday and Friday.

According to Motorsport Italia, it will indeed be filmed. Ferrari needs more footage due to new sponsor (HP). Oliver Bearman should also test in preparation for the first practice session with Haas. However, we would rather expect a test with an older car.
