Slovakia’s nomination for the 2024 World Hockey Championship

From the NHL, in addition to Tatar, Ramsay can count on stable players with defenders Martin Fehérváry from Washington and Šimon Nemec from New Jersey and forwards Martin Pospíšil from Calgary and Juraj Slafkovský from Montreal. Defenseman Patrik Koch played one game for Arizona and otherwise farmed in Tucson in the AHL. Forward Miloš Kelemen also played there for the majority of the year, who started for the Coyotes in 10 duels and played 14 games in the NHL last season. Anaheim’s Pavol Regenda, after 14 starts from the previous year, now got an opportunity in five games and otherwise played for San Diego. Slafkovský is the number one draft from the year before last year, the German came right after him in the selection of talents at that time.

Attackers Viliam Čacho, Marko Daňo and Libor Hudáček celebrated the title in the Czech Extraliga with Třinec. Three representatives are also from Litvínov – goalkeeper Matej Tomek and forwards Andrej Kudrna and Matúš Sukeľ. Goalkeeper Samuel Hlavaj played for Plzeň, Peter Čerešňák works in Pardubice, Mário Grman in Vítkovice and Michal Ivan in Liberec. Attacker Lukáš Cingel plays in Komet Brno and Martin Faško-Rudáš in Liberec.

WC in hockey 2024

The 87th World Ice Hockey Championship is taking place in the term 10-26 May 2024 in the Czech Republic, the tournament will be divided between the cities of Prague and Ostrava.

Hlavaj is leaving Pilsen because he signed an NHL contract with Minnesota. Two members of the nomination, on the other hand, are heading to the Czech extra league. Goalkeeper Stanislav Škorvánek from Michalovci will strengthen Hradec Králové from the new season, and defender František Gajdoš, who already played in the Czech youth teams of Poruba and Sparta, headed to Litvínov.

Tomek, Čerešňák, Nemec, Daňo, Hudáček, Kelemen, Regenda, Slafkovský and other attackers Peter Cehlárik and Marko Hrivík from Leksand were part of the success under the five rings in Beijing. Cehlárik and Hrivík also have NHL experience. Cehlárik played 40 games for Boston, Hrivík got the opportunity in 24 duels for the New York Rangers and Calgary.

Goalkeepers Škorvánek and Hlavaj, defenders Gajdoš, Grman and Ivan and forwards Čacho, Hudáček, Cehlárik, Hrivík, Kelemen, Kudrna, Regenda and Sukeľ will repeat their participation from the last WC, where the Slovaks did not advance to the quarterfinals in Riga and finished ninth overall. Back Andrej Golian from Slovan Bratislava and forward Pospíšil will make their debut at the big international event.

In the preparation, the Slovaks first defeated Switzerland in Humenné 3:0 and 5:3, then they lost to the Czech Republic in Trenčín 2:4 and in Bratislava 1:4, they won in Žilina over Poland 6:1 and in the general round they lost in Bratislava to the United States of America 2 :6.

They will enter the championship on Friday with a duel against Germany, and in the basic group B in Ostrava they will also face Kazakhstan, the United States of America, Poland, France, Latvia and Sweden.
