The sexy new Dacia Duster finally has Czech prices. They start even lower than expected

You don’t have to pay almost anything extra if you decide to go for the new one in the basic version with the same engine instead of the previous Duster originally from 2010. The only problem is that the “first price” is more of a marketing ploy in this case than ever before.

The new Dacia Duster was presented to the world for the first time last November and since then we have returned to it many times. Even its prices have not been completely unknown for some time, but until now we only knew those valid abroad. The Czech representative took some time to reveal the price list of the news, but now it is also out. And it can be said that it is surprising – in the positive sense of the word.

Although it could be expected from the foreign prices that the car will start with a price of around 450,000 CZK, which would not be bad, in fact it starts at 429,900 CZK in the Essential trim with a 100 hp 1.0 Eco-G turbo engine capable of burning gasoline and LPG. It is only CZK 19,400 more than the base version of the car and only CZK 4,000 more than the cheapest variant with the same engine.

But the equipment is a step lower. The new Essential foundation is truly essential, and its label does not lie in that. It is an extremely “shaved” design, but we expected that and it is certainly not a problem, especially for Dacia. After all, despite elements such as steel wheels with covers, you still get at least manual air conditioning, cruise control, parking sensors, remote central control and basic multimedia, some will certainly live with it. The trouble is that any move up is relatively expensive.

It’s nothing so special in the industry, but Dacia has been basing itself for years on the fact that a technical or equipment upgrade doesn’t cost much extra. It’s just that the base cost little, the top cost little, and everything in between cost little. In the past, the brand’s managers have even repeatedly boasted that the extras are so cheap that almost no one buys the basic design, and even less fortunate people allow themselves to be pampered with extra comfort features. This is probably over now.

The base price is only linked to the one version described, the higher-ranked Expression, available again only with the 1.0 engine, costs CZK 40,000 more. It’s nice that you get, for example, light alloy wheels, a parking camera or better multimedia, but it’s still a relatively modest design and you still only have one engine at your disposal. As soon as you would like a one-two TCe with 130 horses, you are at least 536,900 CZK with the Journey equipment. And it’s still a front-wheel drive car. The ATV will not be yours for less than CZK 598,900.

Journey already has decent equipment with, among other things, automatic air conditioning, parking camera, fog lights, keyless entry and start or navigation, but you still don’t get something like heated seats. After those in the base, you have to go up to the highest version of Extreme, but you don’t get other things with it, so it stands the same as Journey. For both of these versions, you can have a hybrid drive from CZK 622,900, which is really a lot for a Dacia without extra charges.

We will not burden you with further details this way, you can view the complete price list below. We have no doubt that in the backdrop of the current market, the new Duster with these prices and its concept will be a sales hit. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s no longer a cheap car, especially if you want more than standard.
