Tzrnáctka supports young athletes in various fields and that is why it has been organizing the Athlete of the Year poll for the umpteenth year. The only condition for applying for the title is that the contestant has some connection to Prague 14. Ideally, they live here or at least play sports.
“It is already a traditional event where we will announce many categories this year, of course the absolute winner Sportsman of the Year, but there are categories such as wheelchair user, such as young hopes, legends, hall of fame and so on. It is a very pleasant and well-attended event ,” said Josef Kutmon (ODS), councilor of the Prague 14 municipal council.
“I have to say that this is a wonderful event, a great event not only for the athletes, but for the entire human race here in Prague 14, if we take it that way, and I have to say that this is one of the events where in the evening we get together beautifully, the athletes it goes beautifully, we have two fantastic concerts here, this year we have Denise Wich, who sings fantastically, she sang for us a year ago at Christmas, and we have a concert by Anička Slováčková here,” said Petr Mikolanda, officer of the culture department of the Municipal Council of Prague 14.
The selection of athletes across categories took place in several rounds. Clubs and organizations were nominated first, in the second round everything was evaluated by an expert jury, and finally the public could also vote. There were seven categories in total.
“I am very happy for this award and I think this event is a great idea. It is excellently organized by Prague 14. I won for the sport of taekwondo, and my ranking was third place at the European Taekwondo Championship and then the Champion of the Czech Republic,” said Tereza Simandlová, winner of the category Hope of 2024.
“It’s a very successful event, a successful evening, people had a good time and the athletes who are here have something to be proud of in Prague 14,” said Josef Kutmon (ODS), councilor of the Prague 14 municipal council.
Each of the 7 categories already has its winner. The main award for Athlete of the Year was won by triathlete Bára Besperád from the Mika training club, who received 65 points. The 4th year of the Sportsman of the Year Prague 14 poll was a great success, and all the actors, including the management of Čtrnáctka, are already looking forward to the next year.
