One person died and four were injured in a morning accident involving two cars near Střílek in the Kroměříž region. I/50 is closed due to a tragic crash. Police patrols divert traffic to detours. The closure of the road, which is one of the main routes to Slovakia, will probably last for several more hours, said police spokesman Radomír Šiška.
According to him, the serious accident happened around 10:15. Because of it, the road remained impassable even after noon, drivers have to go elsewhere. “It is diverted from one side to Koryčany and from the other side to Kroměříž,” Šiška said. The busy road I/50 connects Brno with Uherský Hradiště and Uherský Brod in the Uherskohradišť region, from where it continues towards the border with Slovakia.

The police have not yet specified whether the victim of the accident is the driver or one of the passengers. Including Wednesday’s accident, five people have died on the roads in the Zlín region since the beginning of the year, according to available data. Last year, traffic accidents in the region claimed 20 lives, compared to 29 a year earlier.
