The South Bohemians had a slightly more lukewarm start, which was mainly the result of a number of missed chances, including three seven-meter throws, so that the Hanačky stayed within range for twenty minutes (11:9). But then came a seven-goal streak, after which the home team created a decisive lead – 18:10.

After the change of sides, the favorites already reigned on the scoreboard and increased their lead with colorful play. After the match, there was joy on the scoreboard from the convincing win, but there were also tears, as Andrea Jonová played the last match of her career. The mainstay of the team and the daughter of coach Ivy Jonová said goodbye to the handball team from Vajgar with an excellent performance and five goals.

“The last match went as we expected. The beginning didn’t look very convincing, we didn’t give several clear chances and we didn’t even manage to convert sevens, but we gradually played and at the end of the first half we were already leading by eight goals. After changing sides, we played well. We kept the lead, the score gradually increased, so the girls really enjoyed the match. Two older teenage girls joined, who will strengthen our squad next year. We accomplished what we set out to do and in the last few games we made up for some of the unsuccessful games in the spring. The final standing ovation was full of joy from the win, but also a little tearful, as the girls said goodbye to Andrea, who will no longer compete in the next season. Thank you very much to Aja and the other girls for a great season. At the same time, I would like to thank the fans and spectators who cheer for us and create a beautiful atmosphere,” stated Hradec coach Iva Jonová.

In the end, her team took the third place overall in a rare balanced order at the top of the table, which is the best performance of this women’s team since the relegation from the interleague. And had it not been for the unexpected defeats in the second part of the season in Otrokovice and Velké Meziříčí, the girls from Hrade could have confidently thought of an overall triumph.
