Vintage event Oldtimer Express 2024: Date, route, competitions

Action Oldtimer Express 2024 is an endurance ride by Czech veterans who cover almost 2,500 kilometers in five days on their way to Athens. Everything will start on Saturday morning from the National Technical Museum in Prague, from where the individual crews will set off between 7 and 10 am.

You can also come and see admission is free. What’s more, you can also take home one of the nice prizes. For example, tickets to the Superbike World Championship at the Mostec Autodrome (on the weekend of July 19 to 21) or a refueling card with credit for CZK 10,000 from Orlen.

The pleiad of cars will be really varied – Porsches, Jaguars, BMWs, Mercedes, but maybe even a Ferrari, and even a Trabant! The founder and spiritual father of the Oldtimer Express, Josef Zajíček, will also drive, in a BMW 327 convertible from 1941. However, there will also be older pieces at the start – Praga Piccolo (1938) or an even older Aston Martin 15/98. So fans definitely have something to look forward to!

To make matters worse, the big aces of motorsport will also take part in the ceremonial start. For example, the five-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and former F1 pilot Emanuele Pirro, the Czech-Slovak racer and winner of the Eliška Junková Award, Katarína Kývalová, or Gregorio Lavilla, the former motorcycle racer and head of the WorldSBK world championship, will arrive. And it is said that there will be one more surprise with a big name, which the organizers do not want to reveal to us yet.

A total of five stages await the participants of the historic event, which will take them through the Austrian and Slovenian Alps, the Adriatic coast, Montenegro, Albania and, of course, Greece. A variety of stops and challenges are also prepared – for example, a regularity competition race at the Grobnik race circuit in Rijeka, Croatia, or an absolute finish in Athens at the ancient Panathinaikos stadium.

So if you don’t have a program for Saturday, be sure to come and see the National Technical Museum in Prague. It will be worth it!
