It was an absolute points-fest at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, but the Dolphins got the job done with a 28-26 win over the Cowboys.
Todd Payten’s side scored the first try of the night through Kyle Feldt who charged onto a perfect Scott Drinkwater pass to score in the corner.
Reuben Cotter was the next man to cross, barging his way through multiple Dolphins defenders to reach out and ground the ball in brutal fashion.

But Wayne Bennett’s side wouldn’t lie down and scored the next two tries, with Jamayne Isaako and Tesi Niu both scoring off Kodi Nikorima passes.
Jeremiah Nanai then cleaned up a Trai Fuller error to score before Isaako once again responded with another try in the right corner.
To close out the first half, Sam McIntyre grounded the ball after an Isaiya Katoa error in the Dolphins’ in-goal area leaving the score at 22-18 after 40 minutes.
An arm wrestle ensued after the break, before Isaako finished off his hat trick thanks to a smart Jake Averillo flick pass.
Then he was the next to score after a Drinkwater try was denied at the other end, handing Bennett’s side the lead with only 12 minutes left on the clock.
Once again Nikorima was the architect of the four-pointer, racking up his fourth try assist of the game.
But the Cowboys continued to fight and Drinkwater found his backrower Nanai who sliced through a short-side hole to give his side a chance to level the score.
Holmes wasn’t able to kick the conversion, giving North Queensland two minutes to conjure up points to inspire a win.
However, Payten’s side were unable to mastermind a comeback win and now sit with only four wins from nine games.
“The Dolphins hold on… this is a fantastic win,” Dan Ginnane said.
