In the Czech Republic this week it will be mostly cloudy with showers and at the beginning of the week with thunderstorms. But temperatures can rise above 20 degrees Celsius on most days. Temperatures will generally stay above zero at night, but ground frosts may appear in the second half of the week. Thunderstorms will already hit part of the country on Monday, which will begin to form in the afternoon in southwestern Bohemia, from where they will move eastward, with the strongest expected to be in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. In total, over 50 millimeters of rain could occasionally fall in the Czech Republic by Tuesday morning, and intense precipitation may fluctuate the levels of some smaller rivers. This follows from the weekly forecast and current notice of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ).

“Thunderstorms will begin to form this afternoon, first in southwestern Bohemia, and later also in the area of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. It will not arrive in the east of Moravia and Silesia until the evening,” said ČHMÚ staff on the X network. Storms will be accompanied by strong winds, which in gusts can reach a speed of around 70 kilometers per hour, and occasionally hail. Later in the afternoon and evening, according to meteorologists, weakening storms from Bavaria will probably still arrive in the Czech Republic, which will partially affect the south of the Czech Republic with strong winds and other, more permanent precipitation.

“Due to the current saturation, there is an increased probability of fluctuations (levels) in the streams draining especially the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands as well as the Jeseníky Mountains and the Beskydy Mountains,” the meteorologists added.

According to the institute’s forecast, rain or showers will appear in the Czech Republic throughout the week, with the exception of Thursday, when it will be clear to partly cloudy. However, there will only be occasional showers on Friday and the weekend.

After a weekend with temperatures reaching almost 27 degrees, it will cool down this week. On Monday, according to the forecast, it will still be 17 to 22 degrees and in the southeast of the country up to 25 degrees. On Tuesday, however, the maximum will be 19 degrees and on Wednesday a maximum of 18 degrees.

In the second half of the week, temperatures will rise again. On Thursday and Friday, it will be 17 to 21 degrees Celsius during the day and 16 to 21 degrees Celsius at the weekend. At night, temperatures will mostly stay at least a few degrees above zero throughout the week, but ground frosts may appear in places from Thursday. “Drier and cooler air will begin to move in from the northeast during Tuesday and Wednesday night. There will be more sunshine, but at night we have to count on lower temperatures between seven and two degrees Celsius, on the ground and with ground frosts, which will last until the weekend in some places,” said the ČHMÚ on the X network.
