OFToday in Brussels, the heads of state of the European Union confirmed the agreement on the final form of the migrant package. According to information, the TK fought, but Hungary and Poland were against it. Today’s approved position of the bloc is definitive, the new migrant and asylum rules have only been formally approved by the Union Minister, specifically for one Minister of Finance on Tuesday. The European Parliament supported the package at a plenary session at the beginning of April.

It complies with the standards, among other things, with effective checks on the migrant and with the rapid return of unsuccessful asylum seekers to the country of origin. Thus, he introduced the principle that the unions of those countries, which are affected by migrant pressure, will help others in solidarity, either by accepting the migrant from them, or by providing financial and material support.

In the European Parliament, the vote on the package, which consists of ten legislative proposals, was a drama until the last moment. Support for all ten prescriptions was not at all certain, and individual factions covered every vote.

At the one-day meeting of the so-called Coreper II, i.e. the ambassadors of the EU member states, the representatives of the countries engaged in the preparation of one minister for five weeks. The positions of the individual countries also showed how the positions of the ministers will be when formally approved five weeks from now. So don’t expect the package to fail as a result. Hungary and Poland did not succeed in being convinced to form a menin bloc together. Slovakia rejected two hundred of the pact, and the remaining ones refused.

The final version of the Migrant and Asylum Pact was agreed upon by the negotiators of the European Parliament, the parliamentary presidency as representatives of the bloc’s countries, and the European Commission (EC) last December. Czech Republic, which had objections to this compromise, then became angry on the 8th of November, when the agreement was confirmed in Brussels by the ambassadors of the EU countries. At that time, the Czech government came to the conclusion that the final version of the Pact on Migration and Asylum is not the same for the Czech Republic as the Czech Republic submitted to during its presidency. The Czech Ministry of the Interior stated that the reform steps are less ambitious than the Czech Republic expected, increasing administrative costs and reducing the possibility of effectively preventing illegal migration at the external border of the European Union.

According to information from the TK, the Czech Republic also repeated its objections in a report prepared by the Ministry of the Interior and which Prague presented to the Norwegian Union. In the document, the Czech Republic derives its vote and mentions that the compromise form from the trialogue is not complete according to the Czech government’s expectations.
