Ukraine will receive additional Patriot systems to strengthen its air defenses, the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Andriy Jermak, assured today. According to the Unian agency, he responded to media reports that Western partners are putting pressure on Greece and Spain to share their “patriots” with Ukraine, which has been facing more than two years of Russian aggression and, more recently, increasing attacks on energy infrastructure.

Athens is preparing to hand over to Ukraine one and possibly two Patriot batteries in the PAC-3 version, the Greek server Pronews wrote, citing government sources, according to which Greece is to receive unspecified American guarantees against the Turkish threat and financial compensation in return. Greece perceives Turkey as the main threat. The PAC-3 version is also capable of shooting down ballistic missiles.

“I can say that there will be new patriots. And frankly, is secondary to where it reaches us. Most importantly, that they be, and that as quickly as possible, because it is about protecting our cities and people,” Jermak emphasized. According to the chancellor, discussions are held with foreign partners on this topic literally every day, and the partners are not only negotiating with Greece and Spain, but also with many other countries. According to Jermak, most of the negotiations are conducted with the Americans – the Patriot is a weapon of American design and manufacture, and on top of that A lot depends on the Americans. “I am confident that we will have good news very soon,” he added.
