Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has ordered to accelerate the delivery of weapons to troops participating in the invasion of Ukraine. According to him, more combat equipment should also go to the front. According to the Ministry of Defense, Shoigu was in talks with military commanders, while he was briefed on the situation on the battlefield by Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, who is responsible for the operation in Ukraine.

“In order to maintain the required pace of the offensive, it is necessary to increase the quantity and quality of weapons and military equipment supplied to the troops,” Shoigu said, according to the Defense Ministry’s Telegram channel. During the meeting with the commanders, they also talked about “making the work of army repair units more efficient” on and off the front.

The Reuters agency writes that Ukraine warns that due to the fact that its army is facing an acute shortage of weapons and ammunition, Russian troops have managed to advance in recent weeks, especially in the southeast of the country. In recent days, Russia has taken control of several villages in the Donetsk region and consolidated its positions in the Kharkiv region.

Ukrainian army chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said at the weekend that the operational and strategic situation of Ukrainian troops at the frontline was deteriorating, and warned that the Ukrainian army would lose control of more territory if Kiev did not quickly receive more combat equipment from its Western allies.
