Lately, one can feel a lot of pessimism from the comments of Western military analysts: the Russians are advancing, occupying more and more villages – albeit very slowly -, the war will last a long time, the return of all the occupied territories with the help of military force is an unrealistic wish. What do you think the reality is?

In fact, the Russians have been attacking like this since last October. They want to achieve a strategic change of the whole situation. Break the line and win already this year.

Winning means what? Because the idea of occupying the whole of Ukraine may no longer seem good even to President Putin…

Occupy the entire Donbas. This has been Putin’s idea since 2014. Mainly to acquire Donbas. But he hasn’t been able to take it for ten years. Now the Russians are trying hard to advance in order to dig in in the fall, stabilize their positions, and Ukraine was forced to give it up.

In Moscow, they think that America will have a new president in the fall, to whom they will introduce the idea of Ukraine’s irreversible capitulation in the light of their successes. According to the Russian plan, the American administration will then start pressuring the President of Ukraine Zelensky to accept the capitulation.

You talk about “surrender” but won’t it be more like “talks”?

They may say “talks”, but in reality it will be a capitulation with the acceptance of Russian conditions, such as the demilitarization of Ukraine.

However, the Russians are still far from these desired goals. After all, they hoped that the Americans would not approve the new large aid to Ukraine. And that they, with the support of China, North Korea and Iran, will reach a turning point in the war.

But, although it was only after a long hesitation, the Americans finally approved the new aid and it is already heading to the front…
