The Japanese luxury brand is bringing its mobile lounge on wheels, originally built for the German market, to Europe as well. The top version of the Lexus LM was inspired by the world of early air transport, with the only difference being that it never leaves the ground, and just glides across the landscape.

Light traffic

The Lexus LM has now arrived in Europe in its weak 350h version with a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated hybrid engine with a system output of 250 hp (184 kW). Acceleration and dynamics are not breathtaking due to the weight of more than 2.4 tons (acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.7 seconds), but that does not matter, or it is not the same priority. In this case, the smoothest and most comfortable transport is the priority. And the hybrid machine will really take care of that. Consumption is usually above 8 l/100 km, which is not surprising given the size of the car and its weight.

The Japanese model is an alternative to luxury limousines. However, the electrically sliding bon door opens quite slowly, just like any other door, for which you have to leave a sufficient distance.

With two luxurious chairs in the wall, which is separated from the idea by a pillar, as in a real limousine, you can quickly transform into a kind of relaxed room with a retractable footrest. If the passengers in the back want more privacy, they can not only close the rear window, but also make it opaque. They send retractable blinds to the rear side. Therefore, each station is isolated from the outside world for a while. But the surface of the mountains is still recorded. Driving comfort is ensured by adaptive variable damping, as well as special springs and materials in the seat construction that reduce low-frequency vibrations.

In addition, the seats do not lack armrests, footrests and, just like in airplanes, you can fold up and install a table, and thus turn the car into a mobile office, so you can have conference calls. It’s just that, apart from the planes, the squadron does not carry food and drink during the day. But there is a small fridge and lap space under the TV.

There are various gadgets. The air conditioning also includes infrared sensors that measure the surface temperature of the passengers’ bodies and adjust the temperature and the intensity of the ventilation.

A 42-inch high-resolution screen takes up the entire wall space. Video content can be streamed or connected to external devices via HDMI. Both passengers in the back can watch the same thing, or they can each watch separately. The enjoyment of watching movies and videos is enhanced by Mark Levinson audio with more than twenty speakers.

Plus minus the bus

It feels comfortable even behind the wheel, but you have to get used to the large length and width, but also to the poor view behind through the interior rearview mirror, which with the darkened window in the side wall significantly distorts the impression of distance from moving vehicles. Choosing something less than five meters long and a meter wheelbase in the city requires a lot of sharpness.

The hybrid machine does not make any noise during quiet driving, but after running the internal combustion engine on the highway, you can hear it. Traction is good, the Lexus LM has all-wheel drive. idisk zitek overall response is luxurious for a long time, but the ride is rather smooth. For starters, always get electric motors.

The Lexus LM may be a bit lacking in the curiosity of a true original limousine, but it is fully compensated by the spaciousness of the cabin, the options for adjusting the seats and the audio-visual technology. It’s an ideal choice for the transition from a five-star hotel to a private jet on a flight.
