Just as customers do not have a very general opinion of retail chains in the Czech Republic, the reverse seems to be true as well. Some shops apparently think of people as non-thinking beings to whom they can sell really anything.
Why do they do it?
How else to explain the situation that occurred in the Globus retail chain and was noted by customer Vít Bláha. “If you like Rio Mare tuna salads, Globus has an event just for you.” he wrote rather ironically on the X social network. And soon he explained what makes this event really special.
“One salad costs 59.99 crowns. The advantageous promotional package with 3 pieces is for 299 CZK. And the most advantageous are 2 pieces for 249 CZK. Mathematics is unnecessarily overrated in our country,” added the customer. Yes, you have to do the math, but if you do, you’ll quickly see what he’s getting at here.
This offer completely defies any commercial calculations, in which it is always true that if you buy a bigger package, you should pay less for it. But here it is exactly the opposite. Respectively, one piece is the most advantageous, followed by three pieces by a long distance, and then the most expensive is a package of two pieces of Rio Mare tuna.
The customer is easily confused
All three products are sold side by side. “This will definitely be some kind of psychological game with the customer, you will see the price of one for 59 CZK, you will think it is a great price, which it is, and logically you will reach for the secondary super advantageous package, but you will not look at the price anymore. I think it’s unfair from Globus,” wrote one of the discussants.
It probably really can be. A lot of people buy thoughtlessly and don’t calculate the prices. Who would have thought that a store would do something so elaborate.

This is probably the result of a promotional offer, but it is only valid for one-piece packaging. But the action is not visibly marked. There is only the word “better” on the price tag, but you don’t know what discount you are getting. The same red price tag is also for the package of three pieces.
