It’s not a science. How to properly stick the protective glass on the mobile phone?

Of course, resistant glasses are chosen mainly according to the phone model. It is therefore always necessary to choose such glass, which is intended directly for our device. However, there are also huge differences between individual glasses.

Of course, you can’t expect the same degree of protection from the cheapest ones, which are offered for less than a hundred, as with premium models, which can cost as much as a thousand crowns. These protect the display much better, as a number of tests have shown in the past.

The new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphone was used as a “model” in today’s test, on whose display we installed tempered PanzerGlass glass with a hardness of 9H and a roundness of 2.5D. It is supposed to be the most durable glass in this manufacturer’s offer, which is up to three times more resistant to scratches, can withstand falls from a height of up to 2.5 meters and is 50% more flexible.

Another big advantage is that the fingerprint reader in the display works without problems with this glass, which is usually a problem especially with cheaper glasses.

It is also practical that there is also an installation frame in the package. Even with it, the protective glass of a potential buyer will cost 899 CZK. However, the installation instructions are practically the same in all respects even in the case of other durable glasses, and of course even if you glue them to other brands of phones.

1. First, it is necessary to remove dirt from the phone’s display using a damp cloth, which is usually included in the package.
2. In order for the glass to adhere well, it is necessary to carefully dry the display with a dry cloth. As a rule, we can find a small microfiber cloth directly in the package next to the glasses.
3. Models that already have a microfiber installation frame in the package have the advantage. Thanks to it, it is practically impossible to stick the glass on the phone screen crookedly.
4. After installing the frame, it is enough to remove the protective layer from the glass itself, which will then be placed directly in the installation frame.
5. After that, all you have to do is press the glass thoroughly against the display – we run it from the center to the sides with a finger or a cloth, which will smooth out all the air bubbles at the same time.
6. The last step is to peel off the protective layer of glass from the top of the display.

If you watched the video above until the end, you surely didn’t miss the fact that the cameras on the back of the phone can also be protected with durable glasses. This is more practical than it might seem at first glance. All you have to do is put your phone in your pocket with your keys, and the lens will be damaged – of course it will be visible in every photo.

Any repair will then cost at least several thousand crowns. In contrast, the price of protective glass, which is not even visible after installation, is many times lower. 1. The lenses must first be carefully cleaned before gluing the protective glasses.
2. However, unlike phone displays, we always clean them only with a dry method, otherwise the lenses could fog up after sticking the glasses, which would significantly worsen the quality of the images.
3. Then all you have to do is put on the application plate, which automatically sticks the protective glass on each lens depending on the phone model.
4. The application plate peels off, leaving only the protective glasses on each lens.

Durability is primarily determined by the hardness of the glass. It is marked similarly to the hardness of pencils or graphite. Therefore, 9H is the hardest and most durable. Above all, Asian manufacturers are not reluctant to state such hardness even in models that are nowhere near as appealing as more expensive competitors.

Other parameters that should be monitored when choosing durable glass are the thickness and shape of the edge. In the first case, it is usually possible to choose between thicknesses of 0.2, 0.3 or 0.4 mm. Of course, the thinnest glasses do not offer as much protection as the thicker ones, but the thickest version no longer looks decent and at first glance you can see that something is stuck on the display. The golden middle path is thus the ideal choice.

The shape of the edge of the glass should not be underestimated either. Models marked 2D have a straight edge, 2.5D rounded to the point of loss, and 3D glasses are intended for displays with a curved screen. It will therefore protect the display on the sides as well, which is necessary for some premium phones.

It probably goes without saying that 2D glasses are the cheapest, but 2.5D look far more elegant, but manufacturers usually charge more for them.

If you also plan to use a protective case with your smartphone, the size of the glass also plays a big role. For some models, the manufacturers try to ensure that the glass is actually glued from edge to edge and has the least intrusive effect. Because of this, it may happen that the case will chip off such glass. It can easily be thrown away even after a few days of use.
