The most bizarre MPV today? The novelty from China boasts the biggest hole, and it also has its own children’s room

--

The story of the Chinese MPV is extremely interesting, because it was designed by former Bentley boss Stefan Sielaff, and it must be said that he took a big hit during construction. As the pictures from the currently ongoing auto show in Beijing show, the car gets several very interesting design solutions.

For example, the car has two sliding doors, and since the second pair of pillars is completely missing, when they are opened, a 1.5 meter wide entry space is created. Zeekr says it’s “the biggest in motoring history.” In short, a real hole!

If the Zeekr Mix were to head to Europe, it would become a direct competitor to the VW ID. Buzz.

At the same time, the Mix benefits from the advantages of an electric platform. The flat floor and the wheels completely in the corners of the body provide a really generous space for the entire crew. Despite the length of almost 4.7 meters and especially the wheelbase of 3,008 millimeters, the novelty remains only in the two rows of seats. You can purchase a variant with five or six (3+3) seats.

The seats can be rotated 180 degrees and moved all the way back. You can remove the table. It is said that this will create a space the size of a small children’s room, which can occupy the little ones, for example, at charging stops.

Although the novelty is presented as a concept in Beijing, Sielaff confirmed on the spot that the production car will differ only minimally. Technical details remain a secret for now. All we know from the Chinese authorities is that the car will receive a battery with a capacity of 86 kWh (shared with other models of the brand), which thanks to the 800V architecture will be able to charge up to 360 kW.

Zeekr Mix remains reserved for the Chinese market, the brand is expanding to Europe with more traditional models, including SUVs.

Why a car designed in this way? The brand says it wants to plug a hole in the market. Although the number of electric MPVs on the Chinese market is growing rapidly (for example, the luxurious Volvo EM90 was introduced recently), most of them are over five meters long and the price tag is aimed at a more mobile clientele. Zeekr wants to offer a smaller and more affordable alternative. Sales of the new product will start this year, but so far only in China.
