The legendary fairy tale Three veterans is still one of the most popular, which was certainly ensured not only by the humorous story, but above all by the great actors in the main and supporting roles. Petr Čepek as Bimbác, Rudolf Hrušínský as Pankrác and Josef Somr alias Servác shone in the main trio. This trio was completed by Július Satinský, Zdeněk Svěrák and especially the beautiful Vida Neuwirthová. She portrayed the sullen princess Bosana.

Famous colleagues courted her on the set

The iconic role made the eye-catching beauty so famous that people still recognize her today, even though 41 long years have passed since the premiere. “They say, I know you from somewhere, and they think. Then they notice my eyes and usually recognize me,” she revealed to Lifee.cz and at the same time added that she got the role, among other things, thanks to her oriental appearance, which was the main condition of the casting.

That she was a hit, you could already tell on the set, when she and her colleagues were a hit. “At that time I was pretty and fresh, and it was my birthday at the time, so they carried me on their hands. Mr. Hrušínský even extorted more money from me when he saw the disaster they plastered on my face every morning. Again, Mr. Satinský was a joke , so I enjoyed it,” the actress, who has a painful past, recalled with pleasant nostalgia.

They lied to her about her father’s death

She lost her father in a concentration camp. However, the family hid this information from her until she was fourteen. “I was born at a time when it wasn’t cool to talk about Jewish roots, so our family didn’t know how my brother and I would take it, so we probably waited until we were older to know what to do with it. But you don’t even know that in fourteen. You don’t know whether to be proud or not to talk about it. I started asking about it myself and finding out more. I remember that when I asked him what the number on his hand was, he told me that it was the number to heaven. I didn’t pay attention to it any further, and then I was angry with myself, how could I have found out so late.” revealed Vida Skalská Neuwirthová.

Later, her father confided in her and her brother about the whole experience and all the chilling memories from the concentration camp. “There are two types of people. One can’t talk about it for the rest of his life, the other needs to get it out. Dad was the other case, so my mom wanted him to write down his story for future generations. And he did.” she revealed.

What is Princess Bosana doing today?

Although Princess Bosana celebrated her 61st birthday, she still looks great and few would guess her age. In addition, he is bursting with energy, which he invests in the development of young people. He runs a children’s theater, writes music, books and scripts. At the same time, she acts as a tourist guide to Prague’s Jewish monuments. But he also goes with them to Terezín or Auschwitz.

However, she gave up her acting career a long time ago. According to the ČSFD website, her last film was Song of Regret from 1998, she did not add any more roles. In 2017, it appeared in the documentary series The Thirteenth Chamber from the workshop of Czech Television.
