Ecstatic, stunning and absorbing – this is the music of the American quartet Agriculture, which will perform in the Czech Republic for the first time on September 14 in Dejvík Klubovna. The black metal quartet subversively plays with elements of this subgenre and uses them on this year’s eponymous record and first full-length record to express a wide range of emotions and explore the meaning of human existence. Between passages of light strumming, crescendo guitar harmonies, celebratory and deafening vocals, thoughtful improvisations and meditative atmospheric passages, the record’s mission to experience the wonders and joys of the metaphysical and physical world is interwoven.

Agriculture began with a meeting and subsequent series of jam sessions between Kern Haug and Daniel Meyer, two musicians from the Los Angeles underground noise scene. The initial experiments spilled over into a desire to collectively portray an uplifting experience of being through metal music. After veteran guitarist Richard Chowenhill and bassist/vocalist Leah Levinson joined the band’s line-up, this idea crystallized into the black metal skeleton of Agriculture’s music, first heard on 2022’s debut EP The Circle Chant. Concepts and themes that the band had previously explored dealt with, so on the album Agriculture she developed it into strong artistic and philosophical statements. Existential and elusive questions are handled by the band with an urgency that turns their music into an artistic statement and a transcendental experience.

Tickets are available on Goout for 390 CZK.
