The Pilsen court sent the young man to prison for 19 years iRADIO

The public prosecutor and the representative of the victim kept the deadline for comments.

According to the court, last August, Veselovskyj lured his acquaintance for a walk to the river, on the way he handcuffed her, raped her, stabbed her and cut her throat, then stripped her, wrapped her in plastic, doused her with suction, threw her off a cliff and half-buried her with bark and branches.

The girl pretended to be dead, which apparently saved her life. The case last summer in Pilsen fueled tension and anti-Ukraine sentiments.

Veselovský, who has lived in the Czech Republic for about five years and has a permanent residence, was threatened with an exceptional punishment. The public prosecutor demanded 18 years in prison for him. The defense attorney proposed an eleven-year sentence. Judge Helena Przybylová mentioned his young age as the only mitigating circumstance, which saved him from a twenty-year, possibly exceptional sentence. He was 18 years old at the time of the crime.

The senate found more aggravating circumstances. Although he apologized to the girl and his parents in court and said he wanted to make amends, the court did not believe him.

“If the court did not see and find something here, it is a sincere regret. He was apologetic, but he delivered it like a memorized poem. The court spent several main hearings with the defendant and during the entire time it saw nothing in him that even remotely resembled sincere remorse. He probably even lacks self-pity,” said the judge.

The young man admitted to sexual abuse and attempted murder, but denied that he had raped the girl. According to him, it was only about sex. In addition to the punishment, the court ordered him to pay over 480,000 crowns to the girl as compensation for the pain and hardship caused.

Although the attack to the neck could have been fatal, her injuries were not serious. But the event left serious psychological consequences on her. He suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.

The incident happened last year on August 8, ten days after the girl’s fifteenth birthday. According to the prosecutor, the investigator was surprised from the beginning that Veselovskyj took plastic bags, chlorine cleaner, knives and cardboard in his backpack for a walk with the girl.

The young man claimed in court that he bought the bags and the cleaner that day because he was going to clean before his parents arrived, he said that he always carried the adhesive tape and the knife with him.

The court was inclined to think that he did not plan the murder in advance, however absurd the contents of his backpack, but that he tried to cover up a previous criminal activity with the murder. “Whether it was sexual abuse, rape or throat slitting,”said the judge. She pointed out that the crime itself lasted a very long time, perhaps six hours.

Veselovskyj described the attack on the girl as an act of affectation, not as a premeditated act. He claimed that he and the girl had consensual sex during the walk, but they had an argument and the argument escalated into a physical attack.

The girl allegedly pushed him, racially abused him, slapped him and doused him with suction. Veselovskyi said he pulled out a knife and swung it at the girl, and when she continued to prevent him from leaving and curse at him, he swung the knife a second time, he testified. He then allegedly panicked and thought she was dead, wrapped her in plastic, threw her off the cliff and tried to cover her.

However, neither the plaintiff nor the court accepted his claim of acting under the influence. According to them, this is evidenced, among other things, by Veselovský’s words when he cut the girl’s throat. He told her it would take two days before she bled out, so she had a choice between a quick and painless death or a long and painful one. He then stabbed her in the neck.

The motive of the public prosecutor stems from Veselovský’s personality. According to experts, the young man does not have a completely standard sexuality, they found evident sadistic elements in him.

According to them, his actions stem from his antisocial personality structure – he is not interested in the feelings of others, he seeks to satisfy his own needs, he is aggressive and ready to attack. The experts also said unequivocally that Veselovskyj is very dangerous for society, he lacks a sense of guilt and it is difficult for him to make amends.
