Experts from several institutions, who jointly researched the trees in cities and forest stands across the country, have now published the first results. With 61 percent of positive cases, Olomouc even took the top spot among all regional cities.

Diseases of penile clavicles are primarily associated with forest destruction. However, as our results show, these infections are more likely to be encountered in city parks, woodlands and gardens than in forests, said Kateina Kybicov from the National Reference Laboratory for Lyme Disease of the National Health Service (SZ).

So green vegetables pose a high health risk. However, few people use repellent before a walk in the park and after returning from the garden, they check whether there is a tick, she added.

In the framework of the KlĚata project, scientists in the city, together with regional hygienists, examined the most famous Olomouc parks, Echo and Smetana Gardens, where they fell in love around children’s playgrounds, and Bezruovy Sady, where they collected kelp in the vicinity of the mausoleum there.

They used the flagging method, where they have a light flannel piped on a pole the size of one meter wide, which they slowly pull through the vegetation. They then had the captured kelp tested in the laboratories of the Academy in R or SZ.

This is how we find out how infectious the bacteria are, the ones that cause Lyme disease or other bacterial diseases among people, which these fungi spread. As a result, we evaluate how dangerous they are for the hunter, explained Kybicov.

61 percent of the cases were transmitted in pairs

In Echo’s and Smetana’s orchards, which are being groomed and maintained, there was much more to say than in Bezru’s orchards. The fact that the grass is taken care of and the forges are cut, there is less moisture, and therefore I also have to lick. After testing, it turned out that the climate in the Olomouc parks was highly positive compared to other regional cities.

In total, we found at least one pathogen in 61 percent of the trees, in other regional towns it was an average of 46 percent, Kybicov explained.

Of these, 31 percent of the cats were infected with boreli and 21 percent with the well-known anaplasmosis.

It is a relatively high percentage compared to logs from the forest, where an average of two percent of logs were infected with this bacterium, i.e. ten times the amount not in the city, the expert from SZ emphasized. In the free market, Borrelia is found on average in less than eleven percent of cases.

The Kl횝ata project in the city started last year and will last for years. In total, scientists collected thousands of dogs from city and suburban parks and forest parks, the limit for each regional city was a minimum of one hundred.

Infected kelp in the region in all localities

Roughly the same poet kl횝at was then studied in Lesz, Poland. In the Olomouc region, they tested 350 trees in specific localities, monitoring both the character of the forest and its structure, as well as landscape parameters.

It is interesting that, while in the rest of the region we found localities where the kelp was completely free of infection, there was no such location in the Olomouc region. All kl횝ata showed positivity here, clinched Kybicov.

The largest number of forests infected with the causative agent of borreliosis were in Perugia and Umperia. In Perovska in the vicinity of Sobchleb, we caught 30 percent of infected boletus, and 22 percent in Bohdkov in Umperska, Kybicov summarized, noting that these values are significantly higher than the national average.

In Olomouc, the researchers found the least positivity around the village of Tkov near Turnberka, where only two percent of the infected trees were infected, while in Olomouck, roughly a thousand kilometers away, Velký jód was 13 percent.

A combination of several factors is behind the emergence of such local outbreaks. According to landscape ecologist Tom Vclavek from the University of Palacky, suitable climatic conditions such as humidity and temperature, suitable biotopes such as forest and forest edges, and the structure of the landscape supporting the appearance of the host, which are primarily small rodents, also play a role.

According to Vclavek, risk maps of such outbreaks in the region confirm you in Perovska, Prostjovska and Umperska. People are connected with other useful information in connection with kłapka, for example, in the mobile application KlĚapka, which was developed by experts from the Czech University of Agriculture, and Vclavk also gave in to it.

The experts currently have available data from the Polish collection, but they have also started with the summer collection. You can now find hundreds of dog collars in Terno.

We have had a relatively warm winter, so the mice have been very active since dawn. While traveling a month ago, we collected a hundred kelp in just one collection, it only took you two hours, now we have such a large number of them in a matter of moments, Kybicov writes.

Activity now rapidly increasing

So, according to the hygienists at the vet, the tick climbed out of the nest and started attacking the host. How active they will be is a matter of time.

Klt does not like extremes, so its activity is reduced by low and very high temperatures, extreme drought or, on the contrary, high humidity, said Libor Maznek from the Regional Hygiene Station. The hydrometeorological state will publish a map with forecast activity daily on its website.

Whenever people go for a walk to the market, to the park to walk the dog or to play, they should think about the risk and use repellent. As soon as it arrives at home, the pulp should be examined and the culm removed immediately.

Above all, they should not forget to let themselves be shackled. Even though we don’t have a vaccine against Lyme disease, it is advisable to take a vaccine against other infections, such as penumbra and encephalitis, revealed the expert from SZ.

In the first quarter of this year, the hygienist registered 39 cases of Lyme disease, compared to only 15 during the same period last year. 294 people were infected with Lyme disease throughout the year, and the anti-epidemic department recorded 21 cases of encephalitis. Such high levels are the reason why scientists in the region are going to test the kelp for this disease as well.

In the Olomouc region, we have seen a lot of cases of encephalitis, and the virus was also detectable in kennels, so we are preparing to kill there. In the meantime, we will select suitable locations, concluded Kybicov.
