The crime took place at the end of November 2022. According to the verdict, the woman was apparently under the influence of drugs and alcohol in a state of severe apathy. This eased the situation for Nečas during his attack. “It was unequivocally proven that only the defendant was in the house at the time of the victim’s death,” stated the president of the court, Dagmar Bordovská.
“There was only one spot on fire, only the damaged part was on fire, nothing else in the entire bedroom. It was clear to the defendant that if he uses fire-accelerating substances and sets them on fire, he will cause a fast-burning flame acting directly on the victim’s body,” stated Judge Bordovská.
Nečas himself claimed that he did not remember anything, but he unequivocally denied his guilt. “Our relationship was a bit of a wilderness, an Italian marriage. When the lady was sober, she was a millionaire woman. When she got drunk, she bought, for example, a liter of boxed wine and drank it down with pills, so she was useless. Anyone who got hold of her at that time had a problem. Her mother asked me on her deathbed to take care of her, so I promised her,” the man testified to his girlfriend who was a year younger. Nečas himself suffered severe burns in the fire.
“Their coexistence was not idyllic, there were assaults and excessive alcohol use. Undoubtedly, violence could have been resorted to from both sides. But for that meeting it was not important what who did to whom years ago,” concluded Bordovská. The man must pay a total of one million crowns as compensation to the daughters of his murdered partner.
