The construction of metro D continues: The workers have to break through the tunnel between lines D and C

--

The construction of line D from Pankrác to Písnice has started in 2022 the section just mentioned between Pankrác and Olbrachtova stations, which will cost 14.5 billion CZK. It will be followed by a section from Olbrachtova to Nové Dvory, where the tender for a contractor is being assessed by the Office for the Protection of Economic Competition.

“Almost all track tunnels between the named stations have been dug except for the single-track connector between routes D and C, where the last 55 meters are missing, its total length is 468 meters, and the entire single-track parking tunnel with a length of 157 meters. The contractors will launch both of these tunnels by the end of August this year,” said Šabík.

At the end of the summer, construction workers will break through a tunnel from the junction between lines C and D to the Pankrác C station, to the place where a niche was already created in the 1970s for a future connection to another metro line. In one short section, workers are still finishing the excavation of the so-called full profile double-track interstation tunnel.

Excavations will continue at the stations themselves. At Pankrác D, about 40 percent are now minted, and in Olbrachtov it is about 52 percent of the station. The builders have also already started the excavation of the escalator tunnels from the Pankrác D station to the Gemini building and the escalator tunnel from the construction pit near the Arkády Shopping Center, which will be used to exit the station directly to the shopping center. “After two years of construction of metro D, 2,340 meters of tunnels and tunnels have been excavated. The volume of excavations is 70 percent of the total volume,” said Šabík.

Workers make insulation and secondary cladding of stamped objects. They were the first to complete it in the air conditioning machine room tunnel between Pankrác D and Olbrachtova stations. In the left track tunnel and the adjacent part of the station tunnel of the Olbrachtova station, only after the North jumper, the entire lower vault is concreted. At the Olbrachtova station, 36 of the 213-meter-long upper vaults have been completed in the left station tunnel.

“The work on the surface is most visible in front of OC Arkády, where the construction pit for building the transfer between the shopping center and the Pankrác D station has been completed. In the immediate vicinity, a pit is being dug for the transfer between lines C and D,” said Šabík. At the construction site of the Olbrachtova station in ulica Na Strži, builders are now digging construction pits for the southern and northern vestibules, from where excavation of the escalator tunnels will begin this year.
