Prague 7: A man robbed an apartment and put on the victim’s clothes

Police officers from Prague 7 are on the hunt for thieves. In mid-April, a man called them saying that someone had broken into his apartment while he was sleeping and had stolen, among other things, his backpack containing a tracking device. This showed the location in a restaurant in Prague 7. There, the man tracked down the suspect because he was wearing his clothes! When he confronted him, the perpetrator ran away, but the police were already after him.

A thief showed incredible audacity in mid-April in Prague 7. First, early in the morning, he broke into the apartment where the owner was sleeping at the time and stole several things from him. When the owner found out, he tracked down the perpetrator himself – luckily he had a tracking device in the stolen backpack. He found the crook in one of the restaurants in Prague 7. “The man recognized that it was the thief because he was wearing his clothes and shoes,” police spokeswoman Kristýna Soukupová described the somewhat bizarre situation.

The owner of those things immediately confronted the thief, told him to return his things. Then the offender got up and started running away from the scene. “The police were already nearby at that moment and started chasing the suspect. The man repeatedly disobeyed their calls and kept trying to escape. Subsequently, however, the police patrol detained the suspect. The man had with him most of the things that he had stolen on the same day,” said the spokeswoman, adding that the damage caused to the victim by this action was in the total amount of almost sixty-five thousand crowns. Before the actual arrest, the thief managed to get some refreshments and at the same time misuse the payment card that he also stole.

The man is suspected of the concurrent criminal offenses of theft, trespassing, as well as unauthorized measures, forgery and altering a means of payment, and faces up to three years in prison.
