Sigma Olomouc juniors played their match of the 24th round of the national junior league on Saturday in Pilsen. The 19th team played a good match, but did not convert many chances. And because the home team prevailed once, she left without a point. The 17 team was losing 0:1 at halftime, they didn’t give their chances either, the home team then increased the lead. Sigma was reduced by Luka Rozehnal, but in the end they conceded once more and the result was a 1:3 defeat.

The 19-year-old wanted to confirm the form from the last duels, but in Pilsen, a difficult and especially tough match awaited her. Both offensives clashed with prepared defensives, the match was balanced and combative from the start. In the first half, Sigma managed to fly into Viktorka’s defense four times with a successful break. The home team had chances from set pieces. Sigma threatened from a distance, but the chances of Proniuk, Huni and Zahradníček were caught by the well-catching goalkeeper of the home team Sutra. The half ended 0:0.

In the second half, Sigma had more good situations after actions from the wing areas, after a foul on Proniuk, Adam Uriča kicked a free kick from 18 meters and narrowly shot over. In the 68th minute there was a lapse in defending, Pilsen’s action was started by Panoš, who made a good run behind the defense of Hanák, and Pilsen finished with Suchý at the back post after two shifts in the lime. Sigma fought to equalize, but the home team defended the lead even at the cost of yellow cards and one red card and won 1:0.

In the next round, they host Sigma Slovácko, which strengthened in the spring and even won this round 3:1 on the field of the clear leader of the table, Sparta Prague. The match starts on May 4 at 11:00 in Řepčín.

Coach’s rating Augustin Chromé:

One thing I said to the lads after the game was that you can’t succeed away from home if you don’t convert chances because the home side usually grab one. From my point of view, it was at least a draw today, because the boys fought, but in the end Pilsen won even at the cost of several yellows and one red. It was a very tough match, dueling, but also of high quality.”

Seventeen did not start well in Pilsen at all. Already in the 4th minute, a penalty was whistled for the home team. The Sigma defense committed a foul when doubling an opposing player. The home team converted, the situation made Sigma nervous and the first half hour dragged on the short end. It wasn’t until the last quarter of an hour of the first half that they got the game on their side and David Remeš had a chance to equalize, but he didn’t convert. In the end, he went to the goalkeeper Patrik Přbylka himself and was also unsuccessful, so Sigma lost the first half.

The Hanáci started the second half more actively, they had more of the game, but after one loss there was a drop in players and Plzeň increased the lead from the break in the 72nd minute. Olomouc made a good substitution, and it was one of the new players on the field, Luka Rozehnal, who reduced the difference to one goal in the 78th minute. In the end, the guests had two chances to equalize, they failed and in the 90th minute they conceded one more time after a kick in the break. They left Pilsen empty-handed after losing 1:3.
Sigma U17 plays in the next round on Saturday 4.5. in Řepčín from 1:15 p.m. with Slovácko.

Evaluation of the frictionra Michal Kovář:

The first 30 minutes we were not very active, the entry was not good because the penalty was unnecessary, we went there very risky. We improved in the second half, but the performances of some boys were not optimal. But most importantly, again we needed four chances for the first goal, while the opponent scored from the first. This is what is bothering us at the moment, lower productivity, we struggle terribly to score goals. In the next round, we have Slovácko at home, where we have to make up for it.”
