Slavkov was freed only by a great blow from Berkely, but the last Traplice resisted

A great shot by the youngster Vasyl Berkely from the 77th minute decided Saturday’s hard-fought duel of the 19th round of the regional I.B class, group C in Slavkov, where the home footballers overpowered the last Traplice 2:0 and leapfrogged the district rival to ten points. Marek Husták added the insurance in the end.

“It’s a hard-fought, but important win for us. Overall, we were better, we deserved the three points, but it was not an easy encounter, the weakened opponent defended and fought,” said Slavkov’s coach Miroslav Mančík.

Both teams entered the match in weakened lineups. Stoppers Šmehlík and Zimčík and striker Sládeček were missing for the home team. The visitors had far more absences. Traplice came to the match without Trávníček, Rozhon, Šustra, Krpal, Verbík or Brázdil.

“It was a two-sided match, nothing pretty. Both teams were just kicking the ball forward and hoping that someone would create something. The match was balanced for a long time, without any extra big chances,” said Traplic coach Jaroslav Slavík.

The key moments came after an hour of play. First, in the 66th minute, the visiting Dudešek went for the goal himself, but failed. On the other side, Berkela got to the rebound and ended the long wait for a goal with a great shot.

The guests opened the game in the end. They pushed Kolinski out of the defense at the tip, but instead of equalizing, they received a kind of goal. The emphatic Husták prevailed. “The home team was happier,” says Slavík.

“The opponent created one chance in the first half, we didn’t score three goals. After the change of sides, we had the upper hand, they pushed Traplice, but we couldn’t get through for a long time. Berkely’s long shot under the crossbar was the deciding factor, Husták added the second goal in the end,” added Mančík.
