The Children’s Act of the Year celebrates 20 years, the jubilee year has started

Even among the youngest they are heroes whose great deeds deserve recognition and attention. With the aim of supporting this very idea, the Children’s Deed of the Year project was created two decades ago, which brings to light the stories of children whose deeds are an endless inspiration for others to do good. The 20th anniversary year of this unique project, which was created and organized by Whirlpool CR, has just started and this year will also offer several interesting innovations.

The Children’s Deed of the Year project is testimony to the power of goodness in the hearts of the youngest. It highlights and appreciates the sometimes seemingly small, but at the same time extremely significant actions of children, which would often remain anonymous. It encourages children to write down and share stories about good deeds and help, thus emphasizing their importance. It can be, for example, kindness or help to anyone in the neighborhood, volunteer activities organized by a group of children, care and company for the elderly, support for people in trouble through social networks and many others. During the past twenty years, the Children’s Deed of the Year project has become a mediator between inspiring stories and their authors, young heroes. In two decades, the project has already received several thousand stories.

“The twenty-year anniversary of this special project is proof that goodness was, is, and I believe will continue to be inherent in children, that help, consideration, and compassion are present in their, and thus our, everyday lives. The Children’s Act of the Year not only recognizes and celebrates them, but also teaches us how important it is to promote values ​​such as solidarity, reciprocity and humanity, which are crucial for society, even among new generations.” he says Miroslava Plánkováchairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the Children’s Deed of the Year Foundation and director of marketing for Whirlpool CR and SK, and adds: “We are proud that with the support of partners, patrons, public institutions, media, schools, interest associations, teachers, parents and many others, we can celebrate an incredible twenty years of existence.”

This year’s jubilee year will also be marked by several novelties. “For example, we look forward to working with new partners who share and support the idea of ​​the project with us, led by the main partner, Mattel, who is newly sponsoring the beautiful Good Idea category,” says Miroslava Plánková and adds that this year the project will also focus on getting closer to children through participation in various events and activities, and will also focus on reaching out to teachers through the media, social networks or directly.

Starting this year, the Children’s Act of the Year will also be joined by the kitchen manufacturer Oresi, which will patronize the Helping others category, as well as the company Kores, a manufacturer of school and office supplies, and the company Terranova.

Registration for the Children’s Deed of the Year 2024 project has already started. Children can send their or a friend’s story about a good deed either online at www.detskycinroku.cz or by post, up to September 30, 2024. They can compete in the following seven categories: Saving human life, Helping others, Collective help, Helping nature, Good idea, Helping n@ net and Helping the elderly.

The main organizer is Whirlpool CR, which has had the support of public institutions and well-known personalities for this project for many years. Actor and presenter Aleš Háma is the honorary chairman of the Children’s Deed of the Year Endowment Fund and patron. Others include, for example, Jan Révai, actress Jitka Čvančarová, singers Petra Černocká and Zbyněk Drda, multiple Paralympian and world champion in cycling Jiří Ježek, presenters Zora Jandová and Lucie Křížková and others. The project is annually sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic and the City Hall. city ​​of Prague.

The authors of the winning stories in each category will be rewarded not only with an unusual experience at the ceremonial announcement at the Old Town Hall in Prague, but also with a diploma, gifts in kind from the project partners and a check worth CZK 10,000 for their school to purchase school supplies.

Schedule of the Children’s Act of 2024

Children can submit their stories from March 1st to September 30, 2024, after which a panel of experts will select a total of five semi-final stories in each category. The final winner will be voted on by the children themselves from October 23 to November 10, 2024 on the project website. Day December 12, 2024 the traditional ceremonial announcement of the winners will take place in the presence of the media and patrons of the project at the Old Town Hall in Prague.
