From Monday, April 29, 2024 until the end of the school year, i.e. until Saturday, June 29, 2024, the Transport Company hl. City of Prague (DPP) to reconstruct the tram line in the Masaryk station area, specifically in Dlážděná and Havlíčková streets. For this reason, tram traffic will be interrupted in both directions between Senovážný náměstí and Na Poříčí Street.
Also due to the demolition work on part of the Libeňský soumostí, the reconstruction of the line in the area of ​​Masaryk nádraží will affect 12 daytime tram lines and four night tram lines. Lines No. 1, 3, 6, 7, 12, 14, 15, 24, 25, 26, 27, 42, 91, 92, 94 and 96 will run on changed routes. Replacement bus service will not be introduced. During the reconstruction, automobile traffic will be excluded from Dlážděná Street, and for the most part also from Havlíčkova Street. In order to maintain operations in the area, especially in V Celnici street, the DPP recommends that drivers do not enter this area unless absolutely necessary.

The tram line in this section dates back to 1983, when it underwent the last complete reconstruction. In 2003 we repaneled, extending the life of the track by another 20+ years. The track is now built using large-area BKV panels. Due to their age and the age of the other layers below them, due to the intensity of traffic, various excavation works around the track or even under it over the past 40 years, the structural layers under the panels have also degraded. In addition, the panels themselves have survived and the rails are also worn. In this section, we have therefore reached a state where it is no longer expedient from a technical or economic point of view to implement only further repaneling, but we have to completely reconstruct the entire track, i.e. replace all its layers up to a depth of approx. 60 centimeters. In other words, we have to demolish the entire original structure of the track, dismantle it, take everything away and rebuild the entire structure using modern technologies. We will build the reconstructed track on a concrete slab with the rails fixed using the W-tram system. We will add anti-vibration mats under it, which cannot be installed in the track other than during its complete reconstruction. We will reconstruct the track ourselves,”
explains Miroslav Penc, head of the Traffic Route Tramway DPP unit.

After the reconstruction, the track will be quieter, the radii of the track arches at the intersection with Hybernská street will be improved, thus also the passage of trams, and the rate of their wear will be reduced. DPP will also modify the Masaryk station stops, where a safer crossing for pedestrians will be created. Part of the reconstructed line will also include lubrication devices for track arches, thanks to which both noise and rail wear will be reduced. The closures of tram traffic in the area will also be used by the Pražská plynárenská and Pražská vodohospodářská společnost for their work, these works will be coordinated with the reconstruction of the tram line.

TRANSPORT MEASURES

Due to the reconstruction of the tram line in Dlážděná and Havlíčková streets, there will be from Monday, April 29, 2024, from approximately 0:00 a.m. to Saturday, June 29, 2024 until approximately 4:30 a.m., i.e. the morning departure of daily services
Tram traffic in the area of ​​Masarykova nádraží is interrupted in both directions, specifically between Senovážný náměstí and Na Poříčí Street. The modification of the tram route also takes into account the ongoing construction work on part of the Libeňský soumost and the exclusion of trams in the section Palmovka – Libeňský most.

Changes to the routes of tram lines

  • Line #1
    will be diverted in the direction of Sídliště Petřina from the Dělnická stop via the Ortenovo náměstí and Nádraží Holešovice stops to the Výstaviště turnpike.
  • Line #3 in the direction of Modřany and Braník from the Jindřišská stop to the Senovážné náměstí stop, it will continue as line no. 26 via the Hlavní nádraží stop in the direction of Nádraží Hostivař.
  • Line No. 6
    it will be shortened in the direction from Kubánské náměstí to the Karlovo náměstí stop, then it will continue as line no. 14 in the direction of Spořilov.
  • Line No. 7
    will be diverted in the Balabenka – Starý Hloubětín section via the Arena Libeň jih, Nádraží Libeň and Podkovářská stops.
  • Line No. 12
    will be diverted in the direction of Sídliště Barrandov from the Vltavská stop via the Štvanice, Florenc, Křižíkova, Invalidovna, Palmovka, Nádraží Vysočany, Kolbenova and Hloubětín stops to the Lehovec interchange.
  • Line No. 14
    it will be shortened in the direction from Spořilov to the Karlovo náměstí stop, then it will continue as line no. 6 in the direction of Kubánské náměstí.
  • Line No. 15
    will be diverted in the direction of Kotlářka from the Masarykovo nádraží stop (in Na Poříčí street) via the Bílá labuť, Florenc, Křižíkova, Invalidovna, Palmovka, Bulovka and Ke Stírce stops to the Kobylisy stop (boarding stop Březiněveská). In the Bílá labuť – Kobylisy section, it will only be in operation on working days from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Line No. 24
    will be diverted in the direction of Bratří Synků Square from the Jindřišská stop via the Senovážné náměstí, Hlavní nádraží, Viktoria Žižkov, Olšanské náměstí and Flora stops to the Olšanské hřbitovy turnpike. The line will be in operation daily.
  • Line No. 25
    will be led in the direction of Bílá Hora from the Vltavská stop via the Dělnická, Ortenovo náměstí and Nádraží Holešovice stops to the Výstaviště interchange.
  • Line No. 26
    in the direction of Nádraží Hostivař from the Hlavní nádraží stop to the Senovážné náměstí stop, it will continue as line No. 3 via the Jindřišská stop in the direction of Sídliště Modřany.
  • Line No. 27
    will be diverted in the direction from the center from the Výstaviště stop via the Nádraží Holešovice, Ortenovo náměstí, Dělnická and Maniny stops to the Libeňský most stop.
  • Historic Line No. 42
    will be conducted along the route Dlabačov – Královský letohradek – Letenské náměstí – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Čechův most – Staroměstská – National Theater – Jiráskovo náměstí – Palackého náměstí – Karlovo náměstí – Národní tří – Národní theater – Újezd ​​– Malostranská – Královský letohrádek – Dlabačov.
  • Night lines No. 91
    and 96
    will be diverted in the section Lazarská – Strossmayerovo náměstí via the stops Národní třída, Národní divadlo, Staroměstská, Právnická fakulta and Čechův most.
  • Night Line No. 92
    will be diverted in the Lazarská – Bílá labuť section via the stops Národní třída, Národní divadlo, Staroměstská, Law Faculty, Čechův most, Dlouhá třída, Náměstí Republiky and Masarykovo nádraží (in Na Poříčí Street).
  • Night Line No. 94
    in the Lazarská – Palmovka section, it will be routed through the stops Národní třída, Národní divadlo, Staroměstská, Law Faculty, Čechův most, Strossmayerovo náměstí, Vltavská, Těšnov, Florenc, Křižíkova and Invalidovna.

In connection with the reconstruction of the tram line in the area of ​​Masarykova nádraží and the ongoing exclusion of trams in the section Palmovka – Libeňský most, the DPP is introducing in daily operation:

    on the route Březiněveská – Kobylisy – Bulovka – Palmovka – Florenc – Masarykovo nádraží (in Na Poříčí street) – Náměstí Republiky – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Hradčanská – Dejvická – Nádraží Veleslavín – Dědina.
  • and
    line no. 34
    on the route Libeňský most – Maniny – Vltavská – Bílá luť – Masarykovo nádraží (in Na Poříčí street) – Náměstí Republiky – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Exhibition grounds – Nadraží Holešovice – Trojská – Kobylisy – Kobylisy’s train station,

  • Line No. 90
    on the route Palackého náměstí – Karlovo náměstí – Lazarská – Wenceslas Square – Hlavní nádraží – Olšanské náměstí – Flora – Olšanské hřbitovy (in the section Palackého náměstí – Lazarská it is only in operation in the indicated direction).

in the route Spovojnoj – Ohrada – Palmovka – Balabenka – Vysočanská.

Recommendations for connecting trains and trams from/to Masarykovo nádraží

  • Direction Karlín, Libeň
    and to the area of ​​Holešovice: from the train station, walk approx. 170 meters to Na Poříčí street to the Masarykovo nádraží stop and continue by tram.
  • Direction Žižkov: from the train station, walk about 200 meters to Senovážné náměstí to the stop of the same name and continue by tram.

Restrictions on car traffic

During the entire reconstruction of the tram line, Dlážděná Street will be closed to all car traffic in the entire section between Senovážný náměstí and Hybernská Street, and for the most part also from Havlíčkova Street. During most of the construction period, Hybernská street will be one-way to Opletalová street, drivers in the opposite direction will be directed to a detour through Senovážné náměstí.
Parking in Havlíčková Street will be prohibited for the entire construction period. A temporary place will be set up for supply at the intersection with Na Poříčí Street. Other restrictions will change according to individual stages.

  • 1st stage (April 29 from 0:30 – May 14 until 6:00)

The V Celnici – Na Florenci crossing will be closed. Operation of the entire V Celnici street will only be possible from Na Poříčí street, in both directions with one lane with switches. Traffic complications can be expected at this stage and the DPP therefore recommends drivers not to drive to the site unless absolutely necessary.

  • Stage 2 (May 14 from 6:00 a.m. – May 28 until 6:00 a.m.)

In the longitudinal direction, Havlíčkova street will be completely closed, but the service of V Celnici street will already take place via the open crossing from Na Florenci street.

  • Stage 3 (May 28 from 6:00 a.m. – June 12 until 6:00 a.m.)

Complete closure of the intersection Havlíčkova – Hybernská for all directions. The closure of Havlíčkova Street from the 2nd stage continues.

  • Stage 4 (June 12 from 6:00 a.m. – July 1 until 0:01 a.m.)

The opening of the Havlíčkova – Hybernská intersection and the simultaneous opening of Havlíčkova Street from Na Poříčí Street to V Celnici Street.

Pedestrian restrictions

Longitudinal movement of pedestrians along the structure will be allowed throughout the reconstruction period with possible narrowings. Transverse passage through the building will be possible especially in connection with the relevant transverse connections after definitive or temporary transitions.
