A woman stabbed herself in the stomach and cut a police officer when he tried to save her

The woman ended up in a psychiatric hospital, and criminal investigators took over the investigation of the incident

On the night from Monday to Tuesday around ten o’clock, the police went to a cabin near Sušice at the request of a man who asked them for help, saying that his wife had stopped taking her medication and was supposed to be in a very bad mental state.

A police patrol arrived at the scene in a short time. The woman was calm at the time of their arrival, cooperated with the police and admitted herself that she needed professional help. So the police agreed with her that they would call paramedics to the scene, who would transport her to a hospital facility.
A few minutes later, however, the situation suddenly changed. The woman unexpectedly grabbed a knife in her hand and stabbed herself in the stomach with it. The nearest of the policemen tried to take the knife from her so that she could not hurt herself any more, but she began to struggle with it, during which the policeman was cut. However, despite the injuries sustained, the policeman managed to hold the woman down and, together with a colleague, disarmed her afterwards.

The police officers provided first aid to the injured woman, calmed her down and then handed her over to the rescuers, who had arrived at the scene in the meantime. “We transported a woman born in 1980 to the surgical department of the hospital in Klatovy,” the press spokeswoman for the rescuers told us, adding that the policeman, who suffered a cut on his forearm and was transported to the same hospital as the woman, also had to seek medical treatment.

Of course, the police are now investigating the circumstances of the incident. “I can confirm that the said case is currently being investigated by criminal investigators,” the police spokeswoman added.
