Most – Although the Summer Olympic Games will start in three months, it is already very busy around their organization. And even in Most, which hosts the Olympic festival with the subtitle Bridge to Paris. The bridge must prepare for the onslaught of tens of thousands of visitors not only from the Czech Republic. The Czech Olympic Committee is currently looking for volunteers to help with the organization.

In Paris, a grand opening is scheduled for Friday, July 26. However, the Czech Republic will be ahead of the host country with its ceremonial ceremony by one day. The very news that there will be a replica of the Eiffel Tower made of 3D-printed components on the shore of Lake Most spread not only in the Czech Republic (we wrote about it HERE). “The news was also picked up by the media in France,” added Libor Varhaník.

What will the festival on the shore of one of the cleanest lakes offer? “We will welcome the successful Olympians who, after arriving from Paris, will head straight here to Most so that they can greet the fans. Visitors to the festival will be able to watch our athletes compete, but they will also try a variety of sports themselves, both traditional and less traditional. Fifty-two sports are on offer so far,” added the vice-chairman of the Czech Olympic Committee. Concerts are also planned, several tours of suburban camps are prepared. “Several tournaments were announced in January and their capacity was completely filled that same month,” noted Naďa Černá, manager of the Olympic festival. The ambassadors of the festival in Most are spear thrower Barbora Špotáková and skier Ondřej Synek.

The Czech Olympic Committee is negotiating with the city library, hospital and museum about participation in the Olympic festival. An art competition is also announced. Pupils compete in two categories (first and second grade of primary schools) and can use several art techniques, i.e. drawing and painting, graphics and computer graphics, or combined techniques. What will the Most gain besides the large number of visitors and media coverage? Some sports fields will remain in the Olympic complex even after the Olympic festival. This is certainly the case with the skate park and the beach volleyball court. A pier in the shape of the Olympic rings will be built on the lake.

There will also be a possibility to stay in a tent town by the lake. Over the course of eighteen days, a huge number of people will arrive in Most. “In neighboring Saxony, the children will already be in the school year, so whole school groups are also preparing to go to the lake here. Fans will come from all over the Czech Republic, so we will prepare a manual, for example, to inform those arriving how best to get to Most by train and how to move to the lake from the station,” said Veronika Linková, press spokesperson of the Czech Olympic Committee.

Many volunteers are needed to organize such an event, which the Czech Olympic Association is currently looking for.
