The center of the city will once again be occupied by historical military equipment, authentic military camps, hospitals, field post or kitchens to commemorate the liberation of the city by the American army. A cultural program is also prepared on several stages, on Sunday there will be the traditional Convoy of Liberty or flyovers of historical and contemporary military aircraft. Why come: Already this coming weekend, the city of Pilsen and the entire Pilsen region will commemorate the end of World War II with the traditional Freedom Celebrations. Viktoria Plzeň will also join the celebrations, which will play its home league match against Mladá Boleslav on Sunday as the Freedom Match. In cooperation with the Army of the Czech Republic, a special rich accompanying program will be prepared for the fans at this exceptional event in the park in Štruncovy sady, and there will also be a large Victorian fan zone full of competitions and games.

The museum in Líny will present a novelty

Why come: As part of the Freedom Celebrations, the museum Hangár 3 at the airport in Línich near Pilsen will open to the public for the first time this year. The main attraction will be the airworthy P-51D Mustang fighter plane, the French training jet Fouga CM.170 Magister will be presented to aviation fans for the first time in the museum. On the premises of the museum, almost complete preserved artifacts of B-17 Flying Fortress planes shot down on April 25, 1945 over Pilsen and an exhibition about Pilsen airmen in the ranks of the British RAF will be on display.

Why come: Until Sunday, May 5, it will be possible to take a look at the unique Legion train commemorating the life of tens of thousands of soldiers in the train that transported them back home after the First World War at Pilsen Central Station. Interior installations and historical exhibits, authentically furnished interiors and photographs and stories of fighters remind us of the reality of the period. The train can be visited on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on weekends from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The memorial service will commemorate the downing of the bomber

Why come: This year, in Nepomuk, they are commemorating the 80th anniversary of the downing of the American Liberator bomber at Dubča, near the city. The main memorial service will take place on May 4 from 3:35 p.m. at the Leaning Obelisk monument as part of the celebration of the liberation of Czechoslovakia. The celebrations will also be accompanied by a concert by the Taxmeni group from 12 o’clock at the Zelená Hora castle, from 8 o’clock the band The Dixie Hot Licks will play at the Hotel U Zeleného stromu, free entry

It will be possible to admire the historic vehicles that arrive there, listen to swing music and maybe even dance. The Sparkling May wine festival will take place in Lobzy
