The Pilsen police are examining a video from the Pilsen Freedom Convoy that appeared on https://twitter.com/zeman_vaclav/status/1787074210176680081?s=46. It features a historic US Army truck with someone waving a swastika flag from its cab. Pilsen police spokeswoman Michaela Raindlová told ČTK.
“We are dealing with it, we are saving the video from social networks,” said Raindlová. According to her, the police are also checking whether it is an edited sequence of shots. They cooperate with the organizers of the convoy and with the municipality. The convoy is a reminder of the liberation of Pilsen from the Nazis.
The main organizer of the celebration of the liberation of Pilsen by the American army is the city of Pilsen. “Such behavior is completely unacceptable and should be strongly condemned. The police are already investigating the case. I believe that the perpetrators will be punished according to the applicable legislation,” said Pilsen Mayor Roman Zarzycký (ANO). According to his information, they were not members of traditional military clubs, but an individual participant in the convoy.
“They are jeepers, they have nothing to do with us. The police are already looking into it, they know about it, I’ve already talked to them,” said Pavel Rogl, commander of the Military History Club of the 16th Armored Division, one of the main organizers of the convoy. The club had the most members and equipment in the convoy.
The Convoy of Liberty with more than 300 military historic American vehicles passed through Pilsen on Sunday between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Twenty jeeps were carrying the descendants of the American and Belgian veterans who liberated the city in May 1945.
The convoy drove through the main Klatovská třída and Rooseveltova Street to the vast Republic Square, which was completely full. People could see some of the cars and talk to the relatives of the veterans. On the third day, the four-day Freedom Celebration in Pilsen continues in Pilsen, to which tens of thousands of people go every year.
