The Pilsen police are examining the video from the celebratory Freedom Convoy that appeared on https://twitter.com/zeman_vaclav/status/1787074210176680081?s=46.

It features a historic US Army vehicle with someone waving a swastika flag from its cab. The identity of the two Czech citizens who waved the flag is already known to the police – as stated by its spokeswoman. They are suspected of showing sympathy for a movement aimed at suppressing the rights and freedoms of citizens, Pilsen police spokeswoman Michaela Raindlová told CTK.

“We have already established the identity of the actors of this illegal act, the Pilsen criminal investigators are now carrying out criminal proceedings in the case,” said the spokeswoman. “But no one has been charged yet, so we’re still looking into it,” she added.

The main organizer of the celebration of the liberation of Pilsen by the American army is the local town hall. “Such behavior is completely unacceptable and should be strongly condemned,” said Pilsen Mayor Roman Zarzycký (ANO). “I believe that the perpetrators will be punished according to the applicable legislation,” he said. According to his information, they were not members of traditional military clubs, but an individual participant in the convoy.

“They are jeepers, they have nothing to do with us,” said Pavel Rogl, commander of the Military History Club of the 16th Armored Division, one of the main organizers of the convoy. The club had the most members and equipment in the convoy.

The Convoy of Liberty with more than 300 military historic American vehicles passed through Pilsen on Sunday between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Twenty jeeps were carrying the descendants of the American and Belgian veterans who liberated the city in May 1945.

The convoy drove through the main Klatovská třída and Rooseveltova Street to the vast Republic Square, which was completely full. People could see some of the cars and talk to the relatives of the veterans. On the third day, the four-day Freedom Celebration in Pilsen continues in Pilsen, to which tens of thousands of people go every year.
