For some, an efficient means of transport, for others an annoying tourist attraction. The scooters of the company Lime started to run in Prague in 2018. The last year was a record for the company. Her scooters and bikes have driven millions of kilometers in Prague. Thus, the number of locals who used to use the sledgehammers grew.

In 2020, the company launched the Lime Pass subscription system in Prague, which allows riders to ride on regular rides. Last year, half of the riders used this subscription. Rent a Lime Pass in the main square, which removes the stigma of being a tourist player, especially electric scooters, to Vclav Petr, general editor of Lime for Czech Republic and Hungary. The company realized that last year its scooters and intermediate wheels drove 25 percent more rides, including the hub, and the machine fell slightly on the streets. A rider who rides regularly is the most beneficial for the city. It limits emissions, does not take up space in traffic jams and, last but not least, I have learned the rules of safe driving, including the use of shared means of transport, Petr.

Towing

  • If the wheelbarrow is left in the fifth place, Prague City Hall 2 e situation with the operator of the service through a special mobile application.
  • If no corrections are made, sanctions will be imposed in the form of towing electric scooters at the expense of the operator. We took such a step several times this year and had 99 discarded electric scooters towed away, according to Prague 2 councilor Tom Halva.

While the operator of the scooters only enjoyed the operation, the town halls are cautious in their positive assessment. However, the situation regarding bicycles is gradually improving. You and thanks to the clearly set rules. Looking back, I’m glad we didn’t expect anything and took the situation into our own hands. By concluding the agreement, we defined the conditions under which this service should be provided on the ground in the urban area of the establishment. The parking space for shared e-scooters and bicycles in Prague 2 has improved considerably since then, comments Prague 2 councilor Tom Halva, adding: In cooperation with the operators of bikesharing platforms, we managed to create approximately 100 parking spots and gave a boost.

According to the councilor, the operation of scooters is still slow. As the main tourist season progresses, we see the biggest problem in the capacity of electric scooters, which are not limited in any way in Prague. They can literally flood especially popular tourist locations, Halva points out.

According to the Lime company, the situation may be better in the future. A contract should be concluded this year, which will establish uniform rules for all platforms, to which Lime Petr added: We are ready to contribute financially to the construction of new infrastructure, especially parking spaces and lanes. Our role models are large European cities such as London, M or Berlin.
