The repair of Dlouhá Street in Olomouc will take more than a month. The next part of the reconstruction will begin on Monday, May 13, and will follow on from the already repaired part. The last section of repairs is 365 meters long, and together with the repair of the road, the reconstruction of the bus stop Finanční úřad will also begin.
The road should be repaired by the city by June 17, while the stop should be ready during August. “The construction work will include the restoration of the asphalt road surface, the replacement of road curbs, the addition of paving and the reconstruction of street drains. The existing crossing for pedestrians following the pedestrian route from the Bořivojova footbridge over Mlýnský potok will be replaced by a lighted crossing for pedestrians and cyclists. The old public lighting will be replaced by new masts with LED lights and cabling. As in the first part, the sidewalk will be repaired here as well, which will serve as a mixed path for pedestrians and cyclists.” stated the city of Olomouc.
A complete closure awaits drivers in the area from the cul-de-sac Dlouhá street “vnitroblok” to Václava III street. During the construction period, traffic will be allowed to pass only in the direction of Dobrovského Street, with the exception of the days 10 to 16 June, when the bituminous surface will be laid and the road will be completely closed. “Closing such a busy road is of course always a complication, but I believe that thanks to the division of repairs into halves, when the first one took place without significant difficulties last year, it will be able to be implemented relatively smoothly,” explained the deputy mayor for transport, Miroslava Ferancová. The cost of the second stage of the repair of Dlouhá Street will come to approximately 8 million crowns.
The repair of the Finanční úřad stop in the direction of Lazka will also begin on May 13. “During the reconstruction, the bay and the platform will be modified, and a new place for crossing in Lazecká street will also be created. The existing bay made of granite cubes will be replaced by superplasticized concrete, drainage and accessibility will be solved. The platform area will be paved and the stop will be completed with a new shelter and intelligent signage. The construction works will include the repair of sewerage under the bus bay and a new low voltage connection,” city officials added, adding that passengers will have an alternate bus stop nearby.
