Pavel appointed new generals at the Castle: Koudelka, rejected by Zeman, was promoted after a year!

Traditionally, on Victory Day, President Petr Pavel appointed new generals at Prague Castle. The President of the Senate Miloš Vystrčil (ODS) and Prime Minister Fiala were present at the appointment. The director of the Security Information Service (BIS) promoted Michal Koudelka from the rank of brigadier general to major general after a year, and the director of the General Inspection of Security Forces (GIBS) Vít Hendrych became a brigadier general. During a short speech, Pavel praised not only the work of the promoted generals, but also their partners and wives for supporting them in their journey.

The government also suggested that Pavlo be promoted to the rank of brigadier general in retirement of the former director Jiří Růžek’s Military Intelligence (VZ), four other professional soldiers received the rank of brigadier general. Minister of the Interior Vít Rakušan (STAN) proposed to promote to the position of brigadier general the head of the operations center of the police presidium, František Habada, the director of the Special Activities Unit of the police, Milan Černek, the director of the South Moravian fire brigade, Jiří Pelikán, the commander of the Prague Castle fire department, Radek Stránský, and the former director of the Office for Foreign Relations and Information, Petr Zeman.

During a short speech, the President praised the work of the promoted generals. “You have achieved extraordinary success in your functions, but this is also an expression of responsibility,” uled.

“Responsibilities also to the political leadership of your departments, not to personal loyalty to a specific politician. I would like to wish you not only personal courage, but also a lot of success, and I want to thank your wives and partners for the support they gave you.” added Pavel.

The elevated Koudelka took the floor for the generals. “It is an appreciation of our work and the work of our subordinates. It means not only a great sense of pride, but also a responsibility, which is not small in the current security situation.” he stated and reminded that the world is now facing an increasing threat of terrorism.

“On behalf of the army and security forces, I want to say and assure the public that we want and are doing everything to ensure that the Czech Republic remains the safest country in the world and a pleasant place to live,” he finished his speech and once again thanked Pavlo for the promotion.
