The Central Bohemian Region will work closely with the cities when building P+R parking lots in Kolín and Nymburk. The councilors today took note of the draft cooperation agreements with the two municipalities and recommended their approval to the representatives. In the case of Kolín, it should be a parking garage, in Nymburk it will be a parking area.

The Central Bohemian Region will cooperate with local governments on the construction of P+R parking lots in Kolín and Nymburk. At today’s meeting, councilors took note of the wording of the contracts, then recommended approval to the council. “We have a clear intention in the Central Bohemian region. This is a modern public transport system. It also includes quality infrastructure, such as P+R parking lots, where people can safely park their cars for the whole day and change trains,” states Petr Borecký, councilor for public transport.

In Kolín, a new P+R parking garage should be built in close proximity to the local station. The city will provide complete project preparation, including documentation for construction. The region will subsequently take over the construction as such, including ensuring technical supervision of the construction, administration, operation and maintenance of the parking lot.

The P+R parking lot in Nymburk is part of a larger regional action that aims to calm traffic in the vicinity of the Veslák sports center. Even in this case, the city will provide complete project preparation, including documentation for construction, and the region will build the parking lot. “The goals of the entire event are to alleviate the needs for parking cyclists in the city center and to limit car traffic on the Elbe cycle path in this area,” explains Petr Borecký.

The contracts still have to be approved by regional representatives.
