Only a few months ago, Markéta Pekarová Adamová defended her mandate as the chairperson of TOP 09. However, according to people familiar with the situation, this certainly does not mean that she would not face opposition and criticism in the smallest government party.

Journalist Michal Půr even asked, with some exaggeration, on the social network whether we will see an extraordinary congress of the party.

According to many, the case with the replacement of Minister Helena Langšádlová once again confirmed the political incompetence of the party leader and the Chamber of Deputies.

The Minister for Science and Research was one of those who founded the party with Miroslav Kalousko. According to information from ParlamentníchListů.cz, the party was also supposed to have said that its recall was supposed to be a “preventive” defense against the new “Kalouska Party”, which TOP 09 is said to be very worried about, whether its establishment is a real possibility or a chimera.

The former chairman and founder has recently been very critical of the party (as well as the entire coalition), and he even expressed regret in some exaggeration that the right of the founders to dissolve the project if it completely deviates from its meaning was not introduced in the statutes.

The fact that she is a member of the Central Bohemian regional organization did not help Langšádl either. According to political scientist Lukáš Valeš for ParlamentníListy.cz, it is from Prague and Central Bohemia that Pekarová Adamová feels the greatest threat.

These two regions are also essentially the only ones that bring at least some voter support to the smallest governing party.

Langšádlová’s removal took place against the will of the minister, which was also noticed by journalists at the press conference where she became party chairwoman. According to political scientist Valeš, Pekarová “went hard for this event, but messed it up so much that she cut a stool under herself.”

The chosen successor, an unknown municipal politician from Havířov and academician from Opava, Pavel Tuleja, gave up his candidacy after a few days when it appeared in the media that the chosen minister for science publishes in “predatory” journals, which is considered a significant ethical transgression among scientists.

In a situation where two essentially the only relevant regional organizations stand against the chairwoman, the influence of the remaining ones on whom the chairwoman can still lean increases.

Remarks about the growing influence of Vlastimil Válek are beginning to be heard from the party. The Minister of Health is currently the last top-ranking member of the government and, as the first vice-chairman, has influence especially on the South Moravian organization of the party.

Several Internet-active former officials brought insight into this regional cell. And the former chairman of the Brno organization, Petr Kunc, summed it up for everyone: “The war brought evil to it.”

“Vlastik brought this behavior there, revenges, behind-the-scenes scams, lies,” wrote Kunc, saying that he had enjoyed enough from the professor himself. Today, according to him, Topka is only a B-list of the ODS and, apart from its program, only offers the European agenda of Luďek Niedermayer. His friends on Twitter regretted this the most, they said he did not deserve to be on the candidate list with Zdechovský and Vondra.

Petr Kunc has long been a critic of Válk’s behavior in South Moravian TOP 09. In the past, he already tweeted about disputes between Válek and the “Kalousk” veteran of South Moravian topka Jan Vitula during the establishment of a new regional council.

Now, a post by Vitula himself, the former TOP 09 vice-chairman, who turned to Pekarová right after she tweeted her comment on Tulej’s resignation, is spreading on the Internet.

“Markéta, do you know when I understood that TOP 09 was over? When Petr Kunec and Válek wanted to exclude us and you called me before, let’s go out voluntarily. That’s when I asked you if you understood that Válek made it all up. And the answer was: Yes, but what should I do?’

And he added the remark that Válek is already calling Pekarová in the same way, but she still doesn’t understand.

Kunc and Vitula were expelled from TOP 09 in January 2021.

Others also joined in saying that it is an open secret how Vlastimil Válek moves the entire TOP 09 and it has a negative effect on it.

The chairperson is said to be subject to this in particular. Former party member Kunc commented: “Markéta was a modest, pleasant lady with a social sensibility (although not exactly the sharpest pencil). However, under the influence of the War, she became a completely antisocial person who jumped on Vlastik’s unpleasant rhetoric and ability to annoy everyone. She’s been around for a long time, and nothing around…”

This is also why some people around TOP 09 think that Professor Válk’s influence in the whole charade surrounding the Minister of Science was greater than it seems.
